So I subscribe to all the sports packages that Directv has to offer and they confirmed for me that I am supposed to get the Marquee Network which is channel 664 on Directv.
I live in Nashville, TN which outside the local market so there would be no reason to block me from getting it.

Why can't I get it here in Nashville?

Thanks-Neil

Because the Season hasn't started yet ???

Check it again over the weekend when all the games are going on.

Mine gives me a 721 error code meaning I have not purchased / not in my package.

Marquee has special blackout rules and only available "in market "

There's a huge thread on dbstalk

Marquee is the only RSN that isn't included in the Sports Pack. The ONLY way to get it is to live in the Cubs TV territory. The Directv customer service people are wrong, they usually have no idea what they are talking about when it comes to these things. It is unknown why Marquee is this way, other than Sinclair is evil.

Nobody except those in the Cubs territory get Marquee, even with the Sports Pack. Why? No one really knows....

Thats just DUMB if thats the case ...

So that means the Cubs (A Very Popular team) is only available in its own area even with the Packages that cover the rest of the out of town games.

I'm surprised the yankees haven't gone that way .

This is a very bad sign for fans wanting to see thier out of town teams in the future as I expect this to expand if its successful.

The Cubs games are still on EI but the rest of the RSN content is only in-market.

Interesting ...
Seeing most of the EI package comes from the teams RSN's, your saying that the Marquee channel is viewable for the Cubs games ...
If so, that makes it the same as most .... where the games are available, but the rest isn't, in most cases.

If thats the case, then I don't see any issue.

Correct, during live cubs games you will get the game/cubs feed (via MLB EI) . But the network Marquee is only available in market so if your not in cubs territory no pre/post game show etc...

Out of market availability of RSNs and games being in EI are unrelated issues. Cubs games on the MN are included in EI, as are games on the various Blue Jays channels, NBC Sports Philadelphia, and other channels DirecTV doesn't even carry.

There is nothing on MN for non-Cubs fans. Nothing. Very similar to the single team and nothing else Lakers and Dodgers channels.

So it works the same any other RSN works.

The fact that its not part of the Sports Package group of channels is kinda odd ...
Most of the time, I find very little on the RSNs outside of the Games anyways.

Yea as I have witnessed and read on that multi page thread on dbstalk. Marquee has a unique agreement.

I do notice on other (out of market )RSNs some shows are blacked out as well. There was a show about chipper Jones i was unable to watch since its not my local RSN. (I live in Os/Nats territory).

Also, NBA and MLB replays are blacked out but for some reason NHL replays are NOT blacked out and I'm able to watch them.

I don't sub to NHL CI or NBA LP.
I do sub to NFL ST and MLB EI.

If you really really want to watch the Cubs stream MLB.com unless you're blacked out. I get the Cubs and Yankees. Just the Marlins and Tampa Bay I don't get.

I notice the same thing. Don't forget that MLB and NHL preseason games on the RSNs are available, too. Well, except the Cubs now. NBA and the few NFL preseason games on the RSNs are not. When college games are on, the RSNs have a lot of content that is only available there, too. Some of it is blacked out now, but it will be on the ESPN extra channels in the high 700s that are also included in the Sports pack.

I've never got any of the Spring Training games on the RSN's ... (other than my RSN market).

Do you have the Sports Pack? You need that to view them. EI doesn't provide them. It's one of the few perks left of the Sports Pack. It's the only way to get the out of market spring training games on real TV as far as I know. You only get the live games, not the replays. I get every team on the Directv lineup, except the Cubs. Unless they are playing the Phillies or the Blue Jays, you can watch the other team's feed if they are carrying that spring training game. I am pretty sure that wouldn't happen with the normal spring training schedule with FL/AZ, though.

Its been awhile since I have had the Sports package.

I always thought Marquee should have been a part of the sports package. There are tons of Cub fans out here in Arizona that goes to spring training on a religious basis every year, but they are blocked out as well. Whoever negotiated this agreement was retarded. No way fans should be shut out of any time based upon geographic location. Fan Displacement Syndrome is very real.

I remember when they were on Channel 9 (out of Chicago iirc) as well as a SuperStation ...
