Once a user has accessed and activated the Locast app, it’d be nice if the channel guide could be updated to show those channels for easier access. The Locast app is buried too deep for frequent usage.

Also, I understand the inability to record Locast channels, but a 30 minute buffer for live pause would be awesome.

Just my $.02.

I once made a suggestion that all of the streaming apps (Locast, Pandora, Netflix, YouTube, Local Now, etc.) should be grouped together at the top of the Home screen, to make them easier to find, instead of making us go through the Apps Menu to find them. I also agree that the Locast app should have a channel in the guide, since other apps (but not all of the ones I listed above) have their own channel in the guide. In the meantime, if you have a voice remote, try saying the command "Locast" for faster access directly to this app.

Just be happy you have LoCast. I've been trying to get them to come down to the Mobile/Pensacola area since they started. They could broadcast locals in three states down here.

I was tempted to post something similar about Locast still not being available here in the Cleveland, Ohio market, but I restrained myself. I would have expected them to start with the largest markets, and then work their way down the list. Alternatively, I could see them adding some really small markets if there are enough people there interested in donating to them, since they would not have to convince very many people in order to have a large percentage of the market, and since the market likely has very few channels that would need to be carried. Instead, the list of Locast markets looks like they are just adding cities at random, with no real rhyme or reason as to which cities they carry or which ones may be coming soon.

Somebody on Cord Cutters had something that if you get the colleges to invest in Locast they would look into it. I'm adding the link, it's in the comments. Locast Expands to Minneapolis-St. Paul | Cord Cutters News

Locast selects new markets primarily by request and donation levels according to some reports. DMA's like Rapid City and Sioux Falls for instance, were donation based with significant individual and corporate targeted donations. I don't know if it's true or not, but I've heard Puerto Rico was donation based primarily by one or more philanthropists.
