DISH retention offers

I just got off the phone with loyalty as my $20 dollar discount per month expires soon.Very nice lady in Denver(she said-I didn't ask)gave me $25 off per month for another year.I didn't even ask for the additional discount!BTW 20 minutes on hold.
I don't know the reason why the phone number is not a sticky but it seems to be ok in a thread so here it is. 1-888-496-1260

So I've been working on my case for a couple weeks now.
In the past I always just came to DIRT on this forum and they used to sort me out but given that's not an option anymore, I've reached out to a CSR through Twitter and also the phone.

I was an a 2 year preferred customer offer than expired last month, resulting in my monthly bill increasing by $60, which is a considerable increase for us. I would be perfectly fine moving on the to the 2-year price lock existing customer offer and have asked for this through both channels but have been told this offer does not exist. I also am impacted by the Scripps dispute but have not been offered any concessions for that, which I am less fussed about.

I guess my options now are to 1) Downgrade service, 2) Cancel and resubscribe later for a the new customer offer, 3) Keep calling to see if I get a more amenable CSR

The Scripps channels are back now, so Dish will not be offering anything for that anymore. When you called, did you use the Loyalty Department phone number? 1-888-496-1260

That department has the best chance of being able to get you the Preferred Customer Offer, or at least some kind of offer. If you are still not satisfied with what they offer, then you can try to go above their heads, and ask them to transfer you to the Office of the President. If that office still does not come through with a good enough offer, then as a last resort you could cancel your service like you said.

Was on the phone with retention this morning since our current two yr lock expires on 10/1. They offered a $10 increase for another two yr agreement. Told them I would think about it but was thinking about going with YTTV & Philo and immediately the basing bega! The rep said you know they have terrible DVR’s raise their prices every 3 months! I just laughed and said thanks and hung up.

The rep was right. There is a certain price for an elegant DVR with all your content and guides consolidated in one place. We will see if you come back

There is a You Tube TV thread over in the Cord Cutters part of Sat. Guys if you have any questions and to clear up all the false stuff that Dish's CSR told you.

Funny how some people think that DISH is the only game in town. Over the years I’ve had DISH, Directv, TWC, Sling, PS Vue, etc, etc. it’s all about the bottom line for me. Some have the pretty guides that many like and some don’t. The streaming services don’t raise their prices every three months, pure nonsense to try to tell a customer that they do. Philo couldn’t possibly still be $20 if that was the case. Granted YTTV has raised their price considerably but at least they’ve added channels instead of raising prices and cutting channels like DISH has. While the H3 is a great DVR there are others out there that will do what I need. I didn‘t post to get in a contest of who the best is, just saying what happened when I called today. The rep said he would annotate my file and when or if I call back someone may be able to provide more help.we will see since my contract is up on 9/30.

True, many streaming services do not raise their prices as much, but they also do not offer the channel lineup I want , I have looked at cutting the cord completely many times, but for what I get with Dish, I cannot find anywhere else at any price. Dish keeps adding more diginets and many are not offered OTA here, plus if I dropped Dish, there goes my Super Stations. The Movie Pack is great for $10 a month. I cannot get that elsewhere either. Streaming has to really improve a lot to get me to consider dropping Dish. I have been with them constantly since 1999.

I am not chiding someone when they say it is all about the money. But that severely limits your options on the one hand but makes it easy on the other.
Assuming you are staying with traditional service (not online only) if the DVR does not matter, outages do not matter, what package you get does not matter, sports does not matter, then it's easy. Call anyone who can give you service and pick the one that is the cheapest. Done.

If the pluses outweigh the minuses of online for someone maybe that is the option.

For my enjoyment however which is what TV is, the DVR, outages, what channels I am getting matter. In my case I have given up sports in general for reasons not applicable to this discussion so DISH not having some of it makes no difference to me. To someone else it may make a big difference. How would only the cost compensate for not having sports if you want it?
No question money play a big role. With all the discounts on the package, DVR fee grandfathered etc DISH for me overall is the best choice when reliability, channels I want, and cost combined are considered. Reliability is right up there as a reason for me and for about 24 years now they have been exceedingly reliable.

or 4-call the 1-888-496-1260 number listed in this thread.Any other contact is useless-you won't get a deal.If you don't get a deal from retention then Dish really doesn't want you.

Longtime Dish sub here, just spoke with Office of the President and they were unable to offer me any long-term credit. It appears that the days of loyalty offers are coming to a head. To be honest, Dish has priced itself out of the market from a value added perspective. True, the Hopper hardware is a differentiator but that's about it. If I had better internet, I would have already dropped my Dish subscription long ago. Streaming services are also going up as well, but are still a better value with the portability and multi-stream opportunities.

Having tried the streaming services recently and now a Dish AT120 customer with a Hopper Duo, I can say that the Hopper Duo absolutely blows away the YouTube "interface". You really need a dedicated device for a DVR and not some strange convoluted interface that uses the arrow buttons on your remote. Much happier with Dish.

I don’t disagree at all. The biggest factor for me is value. We don’t watch a lot of television outside of sports in our household so the value added by the local hardware component is a nominal value. We have the AT 200 with Hopper/Joey set up and with taxes & fees, we are approaching $130/month.

With a Hopper Duo, AT120, and Dish Movie Pack ($5 a month for 6 months), and no local channels I am paying about $54. I'm still in my initial 2 year contract.

I was paying around $86 with promotional credits, which was tolerable. At $130, not even in the same ballpark.

"If" the competitor's hardware was better. "If" the internet was better. A lot of "ifs" in your world. I deal with the reality of today
