For years it was easy, put a check in a ziplock bag inside the lid of the tank. Can't do that anymore. Sais I was COD, so told them to put a card on file and charge it for the amount when the tank is filled. Gal said OK, it is done and you will have your delivery within 5 to 7 business days. Next day my card was charged $308.18. Three weeks later I am still out of gas. Multiple calls and keep telling me my local office has called me, but no missed calls, or voice mails and still no gas today the 21's from the 8th, the day I was billed not noing how much gas I needed.

Looks like it is time to call and dispute the charge.

I used to buy propane from AGWAY, Which become SUBURBAN. They charged too much and I told them to come get thier tank.. If your suplyer furnish the tank you have to get your gas from them. I bought my own tank and got over 20 cents per gal lower price. If you own your own tank you can get anyone to fill your tank. I got lucky and had a gas well drilled the next year so get free NG for my home since 2002.

Natural gas is a half mile away, but no chance of getting it here. Just pisses me off the way utilities can get away with sh*t.

Solavic, funny, because a good friend owns his tank, and suburban was the cheapest, he called last week and was told the soonest he could get a delivery ws the second week in December.

We used to have a Suburban here. They got bought out though a few years ago. Run by local people they all ways had a good reputation. The owners though got to old and retired.

Just got off the phone with them again, can not get hold of the local manager, but she will keep trying. She says the only way to solve this is to have them deliver gas tonight. I said no way am I paying a emegency delivery fee and she said I will not have to pay that, finally asked here are you having problems with the greenville office and she said yes.

My experience was in 2001. In my area Suburban prices is higher than thier competitors according to my neighbor He uses a lot for drying his grain and has his own tanks' You could call different supliers to get prices.

Updating a old thread but was down to 30 percent. New it would be awhile so used their online ordering 3 weeks ago. Filled it out, now remember they have a card onfile, so told them to use it.. Get a email response that you local office will contact you tomorrow. Never happened so did another one a week later, same reply same outcome. Called the local office two times in the last week and a half and was told it was closed please call during business hours witch it was and tranfered me to the national line, same answer no results. Called last night, got a national rep and said I am forwarding this to the local and you will have gas between tomorrow and the 5th of january and they will contact you tomorrow. Well tomorrow never happened, I am out of gas, so at 3PM I call the local office, and for the first time in 3 weeks they answer. A quick apology was given, I explained what national said and was promptly charged 337 bucks. Then the next line came out of her mouth, you will have your delivery withing 7 to 10 business days! We have a holiday and two weekends to count into that. Checking new places tomorrow.

If it was me, I would do a little shopping and either buy your own tank or get a suplyer that will take care of you. Then call SUBURBAN to get your refund and tell them to get thier tank.

I guess I am old school and have to learn theses corporations don't give a Sh*t about customers. All about the bottom line. I just left sprint after 20 years and they never even tried to keep me.

Check around to see if there any fuel buying co-ops in your area. We belong to a large co-op for our cottage propane supply, and the service we get from Ferrellgas, their local propane supplier, is excellent. Our per gallon price is typically up to $1 less than the competitors. Ferrellgas supplied our tank and did the complete hookup, setting our previous supplier's tanks aside for them to pick up. We could buy our own tank and save an additional $0.10/gallon, but at our age the payback isn't there.

I have a stinkin' main pipeline running throught the corner of my property with people adjacent to me piped for natural gas. But me? Ohhhh-noooo. Propane it is. Company owned tank. I never asked what it would cost to buy my own tank or how often it has to be certified or replaced. But my supplier is a good 10 cents less than Suburban.
Makes my wood and pellet stoves a bit more appreciated.

When I bought my used tank it cost me about $800.00 with it bieng filled. They guaranteed fuel price which was $ 1.05 per gal less than I was paying AGWAY/Suburban. I used it for 2 seasons and sold the empty tank for $500.00. You need to keep the tank painted well and not let it get any rust. My daughter moved to VA. and most of the houses in developement use peopane for heat and all the propane tanks are buryed The company I bought the tank from wouldn,t sell me propane when they saw my new outside wood boiler unless I bought my own tank. They told me that the per gal charge had some add/on to price to cover the use of thier tank. And people that have wood stoves do not buy enough propane for them to recover the cost for them to furnish the tank.
