Hopper to Hopper drive copy

Has the feature allowing one to copy recordings from one hopper to another via ethernet been removed from the latest software?

I've decided to take advantage of the upgrade program and am going to jump up to a Hopper 3 (from my Hopper with sling). I don't have a spare external HDD at the moment, and remember the feature to copy from one hopper to another was available a while ago.

It shows up on the website as being a "Tool" but at least on my current HWS, isn't present when I select tools.

I would like to archive the recordings before my upgrade (tomorrow afternoon), and if necessary, may need to find a spare HDD to use as an external HDD.

There is a thread around here somewhere reporting that it does work, but is so slow that my takeaway was to use an EHD instead.

I’ve used it before. I remember that it was a bit slow, but was straightforward way to swap from one hopper to another.

i just can’t find the option to even do it anymore. It used to be on the tools page, and I think it must have been removed during the last few updates. I am using external drives to do what needs to be copied.

You start the ethernet transfer process from the target (new) Hopper. I can verify that the Restore Recordings tool was there on my newly purchased H3, and I used it to transfer some recordings from the leased H3 to the purchased H3 a few weeks ago.
Generally the process works but it seemed to bog down and not update progress, etc. I wasn't impressed but I guess it points out Ethernet data transfer speeds as implemented on the Hopper (probably 10 or 100Mbps) versus USB2 or 3 speeds using an EHD.

It's very definitely there on the Hopper 3!

Now to let my new (refurbished) Hopper 3 update and settle in, but so far, so good.

Which option do I select to restore my DVR settings for recoding preferences etc?

Has dish taken a page out of the Apple playbook and move tiles randomly each and every version update?

Hey Miner,

To restore the timers and additional settings, you would have needed to back these up to the remote. If you went through that process, you can find the steps on restoring these settings to your new Hopper here: https://my.dish.com/support/products/hopper/how-to/set-preferences/other

Thanks Jessica,

Not sure what happened but after trying the restore, nothing showed up in my new H3. I went back to my H2 and for whatever reason, all my timers were gone.
Not the end of the world, just a bit of a hassle. My H2 has experienced a couple of hiccups recently, maybe a glitch wiped timers.
So far so good with my H3. Nice to be even faster than my H2 with snap.

Go to the Trash Tab, or whatever it's called on the Hopper 2 DVR
