In my private chats, I've noticed the following tag in those that aren't with a member of the staff:
Staff no.jpg

In those with a staff member I get this:
Staff yes.jpg

Seems wierd to have to notify us if there is staff in private conversations or not.

Its been like that for about 6 months now. Not sure why they put it in the upgrade, but they did.

I guess its nice to know when you are talking to an actual staff member if you are a new user.

Ok, I don't do private chats all that often, so haven't noticed it.

Just seems weird when I saw it there, no biggie.

For some time, maybe a few years now, after Scott upgraded to the new forum software, the "Private Message" section was changed. Since then, it makes no claim this section is "private" The new forum feature label was changed to "Conversations" There is no claim that this is private.

The rules for "Conversations" seem only that it is a feature where you can have a discussion that is open only to those you invite but not that it implies it is "private" to any outsider. I would agree it is a thin grey line of implied difference but if you want private, use email but even then that is not guaranteed. :)
