New Software: Hopper Duo (U990), Hopper 1 (....), Hopper 2 (....), Hopper 3 (....), Wally (....)

For a couple of days I've been getting a popup saying it wanted to upgrade so I let it and each time it quickly popped up another message saying I was already up to date. Hmmm. Today it did it again and this time it went through the whole process but when it was done and I went in to check it the old version was still there. As a last resort I manually forced an update and this time it actually updated to W501. Whew! :)

The major update for this software release is that Amazon Prime will be available on Hopper 2’s.
Additional changes that are included are: fixes for increases in 1303 popup, voice over YouTube support, and a new menu icon arrangement.
I'm curious what the other receiver models' new software version numbers are. Since Wally software now starts with W, and Hopper software now starts with H, do the Joey software versions now start with J? (Nah, that would make too much sense.)

As of last night, they weren't updated. But they are this morning

I got the new update for Amazon Prime and I checked to see if they were broadcasting in Dolby and they weren't thru my receiver just like my ROKU does. Any thoughts other than my receiver is too old.

This update is unstable, at least for me and my H3.

With this version I now have remote control issues (like not working at all sometimes or playing "catch up"--you punch in a sequence and then there's a pause and then they all happen rapidly at once). Almost every day my external hard drive now disappears after the nightly reboot and I have to reboot the system (sometimes more than once) in order to see it (there were no issues before). And the most annoying one of all is I'll just be watching TV and randomly the screen suddenly goes black and then the "we're doing a system check" pops up and the H3 reboots.

Oh and the "loss of signal" message has returned when it boots up.

Heading out for a little excursion in the camper, first in the season. Turned the Wally back on in MyDish, and it acquired signal. Just like each time since November, it tells me that U825 is the latest software when I try to update manually. Anyone know why this would be, now that we're on 3 versions later than U825?

I can only guess, but maybe there were enough problems with W501 that Dish pulled it from release. Or since the W501 rollout was always a staggered rollout, it could just be that they have not gotten around to the wave that includes your Wally yet. Either way, it would seem that the other older versions (but newer than the version you have) are no longer spooling on the satellite signal, either. So, try waiting overnight, and see if your Wally gets W501 on its own. If not, then you may have to wait until W502 (or whatever the next public software version will be) in order to update your Wally.

Thanks. I will do that. I did connect the OTA adapter in addition to the wifi adapter, and those worked, but then my sat signal was lost. I moved the Playmaker and re-acquired. Maybe Wally knew the sat signal was somewhat unsat and therefore refused to risk doing an update.

Refresh my memory. Does that apply solely to Wallies?
She has a (former) Beta-tester Wally. It still gets public software releases about a week before they are actually released to the general public. So, that is the only model I can actually check. Dish usually releases a new version for every Wally and Hopper model around the same time, though. :)
