I am giving this its own thread to give it some more visibility. Yesterday, Dish renamed a bunch of INFO channels to call letters that coincide with most of the Bally Sports suite of RSN's.

No further details are available at this time.

If the timeline is similar to HBO, we should have the Bally channels by the time they've been sold to Party Three... who bought it from Party Two who purchased it from Sinclair.

Didn't expect this though. Sinclair must realize that no money is worse than some money.

As I speculated in another thread, based on some of the other changes being made in that same uplink report, it looks like any move toward Dish making a deal with Bally Sports may jeopardize Dish's existing deal with NBC. (Along the lines of NBC telling Dish "Wait, you are going to carry their RSN's? Then we want you to carry our NBC Sports RSN's too, and we'll pull our NBC and Telemundo affiliates off of your system until you bring back the NBC Sports channels.") With the Olympics coming up, I don't see Dish actually making any moves that would threaten to impact that coverage. So, I wouldn't expect the Bally Sports channels to return until after the Olympics at the earliest, and the AT&T RSN's may also disappear by that point also.

What do I win?
Your prize, should you choose to accept it, is a really old infrared 1.5 model Dish remote, still in perfect working condition.

Otherwise, you simply get the satisfaction of knowing that you were the first to post the most obvious joke that could possibly be made on this subject, and the pride that comes with that accomplishment!

I don't have a DISH TSreader setup any more so I can not confirm this, but I am told by someone who has one that all the bs channels that were are just data channels not actual full motion video channels.

I am also told that the HBO channels do appear to be carrying video due to the bandwidth being used.

Again this is 100% unconfirmed by me, but it is what I am told.

That would be very interesting if that is the case. Makes you wonder if Sinclair will come to a deal with Dish for streaming of the channels on an a-la-carte basis in their local markets.

Normally in that channel range its for things like putting up a graphic on the screen for a few seconds like "Check out the Supper of Dish Free Preview on channel 104." or something like that.
Must be a chicken dinner! Right now, channel 104 is showing "Emeril's Chicken Frying Secret. BAM!" And of course, channel 104 VALU is always free, not just a preview. ;)

When does DISH's current contract for Sinclair locals expire? Because I can certainly see Sinclair trying to force DISH to carry their Bally Sports RSNs too in order to get their locals back on air. I know Charlie isn't afraid of blackouts but that would be a LOT of major local stations across the nation to go dark.

The question is would Sinclair want to lose that revenue stream as well?

I am told there are no plans on bringing back the Sinclair RSN’s at this time.

Well, obviously, the pressure goes both ways. Sinclair has 201 affiliates of the big 5 networks (ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox and The CW), so that's a pretty big chunk of DISH's viewing. But, yes, DISH is a major distributor of Sinclair's stations, accounting for about 12% of the US's total cable TV subscribers.
