DISH HBO Thread

Egad! Friends don't let friends drive Tapatalk. Pretty soon you'll be replying to 17yo posts! How would that look?
You mean this thread? ;)

You may have noticed that the DISH HBO Thread is gone.

I accidently fat fingered it and deleted it when trying to remove a few political comments. It was not my intention to delete the entire thread. :(

My apologies!
You have earned my eternal wrath, sir! (Seriously, I do accept your apology, but it will take a little while for me to cool down.) This is the second time this has happened to one of my threads, although you actually were able to bring back the Welcome Pack one. At least this time, it was not five years worth of posts, but it was still about the same number of pages worth of posts. Just watch it buddy, and be more careful next time, will you?!! ;)

Yeah it did... but still I didn't mean to remove it.
Hey Scott, you can make it up to me by making my new series of monthly Uplink Report discussion threads sticky. ;)

I thought Tapatalk didn’t support SatelliteGuys anymore? Wouldn’t it be safer to use “a real computer“ instead of your smartphone when making System changes on the site?
Ideally, no single person (not even Scott) should have the authority to delete an entire thread in the first place. There should be some kind of checks and balances in place, to prevent this kind of mistake from ever happening. At a bare minimum, some kind of warning pop-up should appear asking for confirmation before the thread is actually deleted. "You are about to delete 500 posts. Are you sure you want to continue?" Gmail does this every time I empty the trash in my email account. How can Tapatalk get something so basic wrong?!!!

Tapatalk still works here, the Custom Tapatalk app they made for SatelliteGuys does not.

It wasn't a system change, it was acting on a reported post.

Would this have happened if, rather than deleting the reported post, you had merely edited it? (Remove the actual contents of the post, leaving only a note saying "edited by a moderator" and explaining the reason for the removal.) That is the proper way to handle such posts, in my opinion, especially if it avoids the chances of a debacle like this ever happening again. Remove the offending content while still leaving evidence that those posts actually existed (leaving the post numbering intact) and make it obvious that the thread has been edited, rather than completely removing posts in order to cover something up.
