HBO is BACK on DISH

I get 129 as strong as 110. I just pulled the plug and after the reboot no HBO/Cinemax data. Dish must have flaw in their flagging. Maybe someone from Dish will read these posts
The HBO channels are hidden. Dish only has the SD versions viewable even if you don't subscribe to them. Since there are no SD HBO channels, you won't see them. Why Dish does it that way I don't know. But for the premium channels, they hide the HD channels and only the SD channels are visible when not subscribed.

That would explain it, I did not know that there were no SD channels

So it's two streaming channels, two channels that are just East and West of the same channel, and one other channel.

So, unless you're streaming, you get two whole channels.

Not really something to get excited about.

There are a few other channels delivered by satellite which I believe are HBO Latino and maybe HBO signature.

It’s better than the 8 channel they had before of the same thing.

But with that said I don’t think HBO has the great programming they use to have. At one time watching HBO was like watching something special many times it was like an event watching HBO.

HBO Max literally has new major theatrical movies available the same day they're in theaters. And in 4K with Dolby Vision and Atmos to boot. Aside from that, they still have many of the most acclaimed new original series. Still the best service going, IMO.

It's true, though, that HBO no longer has the breadth of recent theatrical films that they did years ago. In the 70s and 80s, HBO and Showtime would have a lot of the same movies that had been in theaters several months earlier, with only films from a couple studios being exclusive to one or the other (e.g. Columbia on HBO, Paramount on Showtime). Now everything is carved up between lots of different services. But at the same time, I find fewer and fewer theatrical releases to be very good...

Two of my favorite series on HBO (Max) are Barry & Hard Knocks which starts Next Tuesday @ 9:00 central.
I love Barry, it's one of my favorite comedies. Happy to see today that they just resumed filming and will film the next two seasons (3 & 4) back-to-back since they've been delayed by the pandemic. Season 2 took about 6 months from when filming started to air, so maybe we'll see season 3 debut in Feb.
