The only way I could watch DUNE was via HBO-Max.

That's what I'm thinking too. Not worth the amount of data that it will use.

Hopefully it will be on Netflix's DVD service soon.

I don't ever stream but I re-subscribed to HBO when it came back to Dish Network.

Do they plan on showing the "new releases" on the actual HBO Channel (live) or do you have to have stream them?

Only on HBOMAX, so streaming only right now, it will be on regular HBO around Springtime.

Next year they go to a 45 days after opening at the Theaters schedule, even then, the movies will only be on HBOMAX, movies will be on for a month, then off for a few months while they do PPV, Digital Release, Disc Release.

After that, movies will be on regular HBO ( and back on MAX of course) about 3-6 months after Disc release.

At this time, the same day theater movies are only available through the streaming HBOMax App. You won't be able to view these on the HBO channels.

I'm sure eventually they will be on HBO, after they are out of theaters and have sold Blu-ray's for a while. Just like normal in theater movies.

For those that subscribe to HBO for the movies, something that is not talked about here is Comcast is pulling all new Universal Movies from HBO and putting them on Peacock first.

So HBO will be primarily just Warner Bros. movies for newer content.

Hmm, where did you read that? This is the first I've read that those theatrical films coming to HBO Max 45 days after debuting in theaters will only be there temporarily for a month (as has been the case with day-and-date theatricals this year). I just figured maybe they'd get a disc release around the same time and maybe Warner was ditching PPV/digital rentals in order to force those viewers to HBO Max. But what you're stating here makes sense. I wonder if those post-45 theatricals will remain exclusive to the more expensive ad-free tier of HBO Max.

I've also read that Warner is dividing their film slate between theatrical releases and straight-to-HBO Max releases. They'll do about a dozen films per year each way, with the theatrical releases being the comic book/fantasy/spectacle-type movies, with dramas and comedies going straight to HBO Max. Don't know if those films will also hit other channels like disc, PPV, etc. (Wonder if they'll air on HBO linear at the same time they hit HBO Max or if that won't be until a few months later?)

HBO also has a movie output deal in place with 20th Century. I believe they'll continue to get those movies released to theaters up through the end of 2022. So probably around Sept. 2023, we'll see the final 20th Century release coming to HBO. I assume that Disney, who owns 20th Century, will send the films coming to theaters starting in Jan. 2023 to their own Hulu. My guess is that they'll come to Hulu much sooner than their films having been coming to HBO, which is typically 8-9 months after debuting in theaters.

But the article doesn't mention any of the other things you're saying, that once they hit HBO Max they'll only be there for one month and then leave it in order to be released via disc, PPV, etc., before eventually coming to HBO a few months later. Yeah, looks like shortened theatrical windows is becoming the new norm across studios. And also an increasing number of theatrical-quality films (especially those appealing more to adults, e.g. dramas and comedies) going directly to streaming services like Netflix, Apple TV+, HBO Max, etc. WB says about half of their slate in 2021 will debut on HBO Max and not even run in theaters.

I love going to the theater. But it seems people can be pretty rude at the theater. I’ve experienced people talking, eating like pigs, playing with their phones, and even breathing really loudly. On the last one, don’t misquote me and say that I’m saying they shouldn’t breathe, I’m saying they shouldn’t breathe LOUDLY. Yes breathing QUIETLY is achievable and everybody else in the theater are breathing quietly just fine. There’s absolutely no reason any particular individual in the theater needs to breathe loudly just to breathe. Another annoyance is when they have crying babies in the theater and they don’t do anything to hush them and don’t take them to the lobby, even when you ask them to. If you can’t be quiet at the movies, you shouldn’t be going to the movies. You’re not the only one that paid for a ticket. If you’re thinking other people are being selfish for not adjusting to you if you for somehow are incapable of being quiet, don’t you think it’s selfish of you to be noisy (yes, even if you can’t help it) and have everybody else just deal it with you even though EVERYBODY paid for a ticket? It’d be a different story if it was free, but it’s not. If you need to be loud during a movie, RENT ONE INSTEAD. I don’t see what’s so hard about that. Also, if you exit a movie screen and there’s a line for the next screening, DON’T TALK ABOUT SPOILERS right next to the line with people who haven’t seen it yet! All this stuff should be common sense. Sorry about my rant but I’m getting really tired of rude movie goers and needed to get it off my chest somewhere.

Hello, CamTV. A direct HBOMAX subscription is not connected to the HBO channels provided through DISH. To access the channels in the Guide, you would need to be subscribed to the HBOMAX package through your DISH account.
