As was mentioned before the game, there were only a few 4k cameras being used .... espn got 4k video when the Sony Cameras were not ?

i am sure as the game upconverted beautifully!!! i am wondering what footage they got

yes i seen 4k fake 4k fake 8k and real 8k in japan. the ps 5 does 8k and it looks amazing better than any upconvert

Watched a knicks vs the celtics game on ESPN 2 while it was a 1080P broadcast it upconverted beautifully!!!! and not even all 4K discs are mastered in true 4K

First "8K" games for PlayStation 5 Pro are not actually 8K

I just about cried after seeing parts of the super bowl on ESPN in full fledged 4K being upconverted to a fake 8K. the game would have been alot better if it was true 4K!!!

So, how was this possible?

8k is officially dead now. Even LG has announced no more 8k TVs will be made. The Human eye can't see a difference anyway from 4k to 8k unless you sit right up on the screen and who does that anyway?

our best buy has no 8k sets!!! crutchfield has 8 samjunks. i also belive they banned 8k sets in europe because of there power consumption also

Should you consider an 8K TV? In a word: no. In several words: not yet -- and maybe not ever. You're better off buying a high-quality 4K TV for far less money, and it'll look better with all the content you can actually watch. And considering how difficult and expensive it is to produce native 8K content (4K is barely the norm even in 2026), 8K TVs aren't something you should view as future-proofing, either.

So, you were extremely incorrect ( or making it up, since you posted it was via the PS5, ESPN 2 is not on the PS5).

By the way, ESPN 2 is 720P on Dish, 1080P using ESPN unlimited, not even 4K, definitely not 8K.

ESPN is actually down converted for airing on TV Provider's services.
