I finally decided to post this here so forgive me if it's the wrong place. I bought a new TV last week. The SAMSUNG UN65TU7000FXZA 2160P.
I had my Sennheiser RS 160 RF Wireless Headphones plugged into the old TV. There doesn't seem to be a lot of output choices on the new TV, but
it does have an optical output. I got a cord with optical on one end and a mini-plug on the other for the headphones. Didn't work. My receiver is the Arcam
280. It has a optical output on it and I tried that and it didn't work.
My suspicion is the cord, of course. A cheapie from Amazon. But is there something better before I try tracking down another Toslink/Mini plug?
Or was that doomed from the start?
Your comments and suggestions are more than welcome. Thanks!!

Looking at the Sennheiser’s product description on the Amazon site, it looks like the audio input to the base is analog audio, not TOSlink, so I don’t think you can use that to hook up the Sennheisers. You should be able to find a TOSlink to Analog adapter, but apparently your TV does not include a headphone jack.

Regarding your TOSlink to 3.5mm cable, the ones I’ve seen are intended to be used with the 3.5mm end on the source (Apple’s AirPort, or my Pioneer portable DVD player) and not the receiver. There’s no reason you couldn’t do that, but I haven’t seen that option before.

edit: I found this all-in-one cable to go from TOSlink optical to 3.5mm analog stereo on Amazon:
It uses an open USB port on your TV for power, or it can be connected to a USB phone charger.

Thank you Foxbat. That's exactly what I'm going to do. Already ordered!!
