Why doesn't Dish add online streaming?

I had Dish for 25-years, but tree issues caused me to switch to a cable provider. And soon went to YoutubeTV, which has a clunky interface. If Dish had a competitive online service with locals, I'd switch back because I think Dish has a superior guide, interface, and DVR. It seems they are missing a market.

I believe it’s called “SlingTV”

I've wondered if Dish Wireless 5G would be packaged with Dish at some point.

Dish Anywhere has that.

Dish Anywhere has that.
One one stream, with Comcast/Charter, no limit, You Tube TV 3 streams unless you pay $20 for unlimited, Hulu Live 2 unless you pay $10.

The other advantage, no box fee at all, just need a Roku type box and/or the app on a TV.

Sling doesn’t carry locals
Well they carry NBC and FOX in O&O markets but that’s it
You can add your own ota antenna and the Tv Anywhere ota dvr to your home. You scan your locals on Sling app and they will pop up in your Sling tv guide. You can record 4 channels at a time. The best part the guide information is Correct and not missing like DISH has on their ota local guide. There are other versions like 2 tuner device as well. Another perk is that if you stop subscribing to Sling tv you will still be able to use their Sling tv app and still see and record your ota channels.

I looked at the AirTv but I see its DVR functionality is above "minimal" according to reviews

DVR capabilities remains a letdown as well. When setting up a recording, the Sling app only provides three options: All episodes, new episodes, or a single episode. You can’t add padding time to recordings, schedule manual recordings, or automatically discard older episodes of a show. And while the Sling app provides a one-time alert if you schedule more than four recordings at a time, there’s no schedule view or priority list to help avoid future conflicts.

also
the AirTV doesn't buffer live programming so you cannot pause and rewind live TV.

While it sounds like for some folks it would work fine, for me its a no go mainly due to the bolded.

Thats not true . I can create buffer and pause & rewind back to where I started watching on all the programming on local ota channels and most of the cable channels. There are some news channels you can't do that on, but if you record them you can pause, rewind and fast forward through.

They haven't created any additional minutes to the timers. As for deleting shows from the Sling tv app is easy . If you have Amazon fire stick or tv you can just use the button with the three lines on it to delete from the dvr menu. There was an update last year that made it operate better. I think you are reading much older reviews. It is more like what you are used to . There is a dvr menu and a scheduled menu showing you what is going to record. There's also a trash menu and you can restore them to your dvr within a week if you accidentally delete a show. All the buttons are on the left side of the screen and you can select a show and then hit the up on the top button and it will show a pip of the channel you are watching and then look at the guide for something else you like. I would look at You tube and look for reviews of Sling tv from the last year and not any older.

Thank you for the info. Some of the reviews were from mid 2021 but I hate when people post a review and don't actually try the features. They just say "oh I can record 4 shows and it integrates Sling into it" but they don't actually try other things.
I use Roku's for Sling and a Tivo for the 5 (yes five) stations I can pick up (small market) ;)
Maybe they'll have a black Friday deal on it but it sounds like for folks who want a one stop solution for Sling and OTA this is a good option

Roku doesn't support DishA. I downloaded something called 'on stream' and it can't find a internet connection. I guess I need to get out my old Amazon Stick.

To be clear....I really like the Dish Guide and DVR Screens.
Get your Fire stick out and add a recast to it along with an outboard HDD. You will have a free 2 week guide for OTA and the DVR function. It works great and you can also add Dish Anywhere app to have access to On Demand. It is great if you miss a movie, you can generally find it on demand. Dish does have a lot of great perks, but many people never use them.
