Recording off-air locals on Dish Hopper

I get 100% signal and beautiful off air locals, BUT, when I record them and play them back, I get a LOT of digital noise and breakup! I called Dish about this but they told me they would check with have to check with their engineers. Any ideas?

Did this just suddenly happen? Do you know how old your OTA dongle is? There was a bad one (can't remember if it was a single or dual) about 8 or 9 years ago that did what you describe. If possible, can you post a photo? Also, do you have an amp on your antenna line?

How would the dongle know whether you were watching or recording? Just curious.

It was a software problem that was never resolved (or abandoned).
