Hi everyone. I am new to Dish and have a few questions about the install.

I was told that I should have a phone line connected to my box, and that I would get a $5.00/mo discount for it. My question is...

I only have one phone jack in my entire house. And it is not anywhere near either of my TV's. I am thinking they can run it down the hallway approximately 5-7 ft to the nearest TV, which would be in my son's room. Now, does this phone line have to be connected to the main TV? And, will it work and allow for incoming and outgoing calls?

All of this may be mute as I live in a rural area and our home is surrounded by trees. We do have 1 1/2 acres of land, so there may be somewhere they can put the dish. I have an appt. for today at 12-5pm. so I guess I will find out. My main concern is this phone line issue.

Thanks ,
Mahaffey

1. Assume u r going for a dual tuner receiver.
2. Connection of a phone line is not a 'must'..but keeping it connected will save $ 5.00 per month ( normal charges for an additional receiver )
3. If drawing a phone line from the only available jack is a no-go then u may go for a wireless phone jack ( cheapest source may be ebay )...

1. Yes, sorry about that. The confirmation email I recieved said...

Equipment : Dish 500
Dish Player DVR , Dual Tuner Reciever

2. Thank you for that information :hatsoff: . The installer hasn't arrived yet (supposed to be between 12-5, however it is raining pretty hard here so they may not show at all).
