***UPDATE! The search features now work with the locked out hd channels in the higher range . IN other words you can lock out all high number hd channels and hd locals too, and they will show search results for the mirrored hd channels in the low channel range. LIke HBO HD on 300 , SHowtime hd on 318 etc. THANKS DISH. I hope this fixes all the bugs we revealed.

That was the first thing I checked out last night after the update. Yours is the first comment since then. For me it was a HUGE problem that really messed up searching. Seems odd that more people didn't think it was a bigger issue. But I'm very glad they fixed it.

This may be the way they're gonna announce software updates in the future:

4/11/2007: 1002 Software Version L4.03 for ViP 622 DVR

Effective Wednesday, April 11th, Engineering has spooled a PARTIAL PHASE of software version L4.03 for the ViP622DVR receiver. This is primarily a non-forced maintenance release available at ALL satellite locations.
At this time L3.66, L4.01, and L4.03 will be the valid software versions for the ViP 622 DVR
Well, it's about time. Just think how many threads this should eliminate in the future..;)
When am I gonna get Lx.xx??

I have the 4.03 and so far have noticed the fast forward is smooth again and not jerky like it was with 4.01
No time yet to see if the audio and pic interupt is fixed.

IT was the first thing that I noticed went wrong with the L4.01 software was the search features with locks activated. The other thing was the lost locks and the fact that it defaulted to 105 or 121 -when it wasn't in the check switch matrix. I guess most people don't care about it but I do. I am not sure if the lost locks are fixed or not because it reset the counter but so far I am on 2 and 3 on my main dvr and 4 and 4 on the bedroom one. I think it will still have problems . I checked the sat strength on the 129 satellite transponder by transponder , and when I left out of the menu a pop up message came up: Check you multi switch a problem has been detected. I did run it and no problems.

It also effected my ota strength on my ABC ota station. On the main tv in the living room, furthest from the antenna, I get a 73 strength. ON the bedroom tv dvr closest to the antenna, I am getting a 65 - 67 strength. Funny to me how it differs. But so far no breakups so I guess it is alright for now.

Does it seem reasonable to assume that more 622s are on 3.66 than are on 4.01- 4.03 COMBINED? My thinking is that E* is trying to see if 4.03 fixes some/all the issues with 4.01 w/o making the 622 worse (although I was/am quite happy with 4.01).

If my assumption is correct that many more 622s are still on 3.66 than are on 4.01 - 4.03, I guess it could be awhile before the 622s with 3.66 get a new release.

Wonder how long E* waits to determine that 4.01 - 4.03 is a success and can go to all...

I want it on my other 622!

Every wonder why E* does not use the Service pack/patch/hot fix rev versioning? So instead of being on 4.03 we would still be on on 4.0.1.X with X=3 with this latest release.

A bit OT but what E* STB has the highest rev of software running on it?

With 4.03, All of my OTA feeds have stronger reception than they have ever had before.
When I got L4.01, my stations ALL went to 100 whereas one was in the high-80s to low-90s range. It's now at 100 also. Thing is, a software change can't make the stations "stronger", it only changed the method used to calculate the number.

If they truly improved things *again*, what will my numbers go to ?? 105 - 110 ?? :D

I havent gotten 4.xx yet period.. at all... is it spooling for everyone just yet? im still on 3.66!

The only thing I have noticed so far with the 403 is the 9 second channel switch for some HD channels (MPEG4?) that was caused by the 401 has been rectified.

Two days ago, a tech tried to set up a service call to me (at my expense) to fix the 9 second channel switch, which he said was caused by my diagnosed LNB drift...

I wish they would clue these techs in on what is happening with the software changes...

Possibly. Some recievers used a sat signal strength scale that went to 125. Not much point in going above 100. I believe taht many go to 125. Mine did not increase after 4.01. So I am not sure of that.

Yes. If the majority already have L4.01, which they're trying to replace as quickly as possible, why keep a small number on L3.66 ??

If they think that 3.66 is stable and 4.01 and/or 4.02 are not they may be correcting the unstable receivers first and using them to test the software for the folks that have 3.66.

They have limit 4 chars for version number/name.

Do the OTA Locals now show up with the "HD" Watemark on L4.03?

I really wish they would include the OTA HD Labeling. And-------- also give us an option to sort our DVR recordings by "HD" so we can quickly see what is taking all the Hard Drive space.

No.

It seems better about single frame moving around. 4.01 would jump back 30 seconds a lot of times when trying to step around single frames.

One of favorite scenes from the movie "Spinal Tap" comes to mind...

Nigel Tufnel: The numbers all go to eleven. Look, right across the board, eleven, eleven, eleven and...
Marty DiBergi: Oh, I see. And most amps go up to ten?
Nigel Tufnel: Exactly.
Marty DiBergi: Does that mean it's louder? Is it any louder?
Nigel Tufnel: Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you're on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where?
Marty DiBergi: I don't know.
Nigel Tufnel: Nowhere. Exactly. What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do?
Marty DiBergi: Put it up to eleven.
Nigel Tufnel: Eleven. Exactly. One louder.
Marty DiBergi: Why don't you just make ten louder and make ten be the top number and make that a little louder?
Nigel Tufnel: [pause] These go to eleven.
