Whatever happened to Dish Network releasing software updates? The last one and only one for a few months is the one for the 322s but nothing in the 622s or 211s front.

With the quality of the latest software updates I don't know if it's a good thing or not.

There is a wave of them coming before the next Tech Chat next month.

I wish I had a date (or a list of what was new / fixed) so I could pass it on to you.

I see some dust clouds over the horizon, into the sunset.

It's the galloping horses of the 3xx, 5xx and 721 receivers, and they're gaining on the 5000 and 6000 series receivers. Into history.

The ViP622 just had a workover in software. Let's let it rest a while. Maybe the next s/w release will be for Weather on the 8s and External USB Storage.

Or maybe not.

P.S.- Curses, out typed again, this time- by Scott! Oh, the shame of it all!

I'm interested in the new Signal Strength bar and a few fixes. Don't care too much about new features except for the USB External Storage feature.

Just wondering why it's been so quiet.

I don't know Scott but you definitely sound excited about something but are keeping it quiet. I just hope it is something good.

Yeah, if youve been following his posts, there is something brewing.

I too have been curious about:

The SS meter changes
The USB Ext HDD support
Weather on the 8's

I just wish they would release the update that is going to fix the OTA reception problem on the 211 and 622 that was created by the last update. They kept sending out updates every week or so for a couple of months and then when they found one that broke it just right they quit.

Exactly! They have been quiet on the OTA subject since L4.05 and I hope they realize it still needs fixin. I noticed nobody has been talking about it, but if you think about it who really watches much network OTA in the summer?

Probably it's time for vacation in SW Dept. Only a few new betas popped up.

I just added a 211 to my arsenal, and I find it's tuner to be the best of the lot. I get all local stations on a Silver Sensor, and two of the stations are 6+ miles away broadcasting at< 1kW. I couldn't get one of them with my RS U75-R outside on a 20' pole, but the 211 pulls it in 24/7 no dropouts no problems.

From looking at peoples complaints, perhaps the 211 is sensitive to strong signals and hyper sensitive, overloading on normal signal strengths.

It wasn't sensitive and overloading UNTIL the last software update was pushed out to them. Only then did these OTA reception issues crop up.

Agree 100%. I have tried attenuators to see if I can get my FOX channel on the 211 and nothing works. It shows 100% SS but it doesn't come in, it just keeps dropping.

I have only had the 622 thru 4.03-4.05. I see the same issue you do:

ABC, CBS, and Fox and mid to high 90's and work perfectly. My NBC which is one of the stronger transmitters is always pegged at 100%. I get breakup and dropouts very often. When I watch it on my tv tuner, its pegged but I do not have issues, I feel the the 622 tuner is too sensitive.
