I have a 'second home' and was wondering what service options Dish provides? Our friends(who have a second home as well) have Directtv, they called up and they got another sat and had it installed and only pay an extra $5/month for that(essentially another room). When i called Dish, the CSR was very confusing and I had a lot of trouble understanding her. She wanted to set me up on another account. Does only Direct do this?

Is this second house a summer/winter house? Meaning that your either in one house or the other?? If that is the cause, you could always do a dish mover, have your service moved to the second house, where a tech would come out and set up a new dish and lines for you. Then you could just cart your receivers back and forth.

If you live in both houses at the same time, or some other situation, you would need a new account for that house.

uuhhh nooo,

this would work fine if when the gestapo call you are at the right house.

What Dish suggests is that you open a second account and turn them on and off "vacation hold" as you need them.

Thanks for the info, looks like we'll need to set up another account. The vacation hold could be an option however. I'm sure that is what the CSR told me, i just couldn't understand her.

But can you have the same recievers on two different accounts?

I meam if one is only at the summer home for a couple of months out of the year it doesnt make since to have a 622 sitting around doing nothing...bring the ONE 622 between the two accounts would be perfect.

as long as it can call home once in a while, from the 'correct' home. given the new internet call home, this argument might not track anymore. wonder if they are going to go to the trouble to trace the path from your house to the call in site. if not then they won't 'know' where the receiver is unless they ask. if they do then... all bets are off i think.

Easiest way to do this is install a dish on the secind home and when you go there, bring one of your recievers, connect it and away you go..I am assuming the second home is a weekender or vacation home...Officially, dish adn dtv would demand you set a second account. I view this as unfair. But my opinion means nothing.

Do what dishcomm said. Setup a 2nd dish and bring the box with you. We've been doing this for almost 10 years at our lake house. Bring it up on Friday and bring it back on Sunday.

That exactly what I would do.
