    Solution found. I didn't see I that I could disable the inactivity timer control in the online options. My bad, kudos to the DISH tech who politely directed me to this.

    I'm trying to use my new Vip211 DISH receiver with my Hitachi 57h DVR. The Hitachi 57h DVR controls the Vip211 via IR just fine, however I've found that the After some unknown amount of time, the Vip211 goes into a power-save mode which the Hitachi doesn't know about, and the recorded show ends...
