Will a D* STB scan for local cable channels?

Sorry if this has been answered before, I couldn't find it by searching. By putting a local cable line into the ANT jack on the back of a D* box, can you do a scan for locals? I just have a basic cable "lifeline" of just the SD networks. Thanks!

Pix Are Pretty, But HD Delay Bugs Viewers

I like how the response to the pixelation was: “You’re going to see that more with fast-moving sports,” Hewson said. “Anything that is moving is going to be a little more noticeable than something that’s still.” Are you kidding me? Blame it on multicasting, blame it on bouncing the signal...

H-Town Voomers post here (yee haw!)

Yeah Spring is kinda far from the antenna farm. Amp your antenna. If that doesn't work, amp your antenna, wear a tinfoil hat, and touch the TV. See what happens. :D Good luck!

I don't know why you aren't getting 51, but I can hopefully point out some things. 1. KNWS has no HDTV programming. They broadcast a digital signal. It's 2 different things. All HDTV is digital, but not all digital is HDTV. Case in point, the local news on KPRC @ 10PM is a digital broadcast...

Blame Granny if your Favorite Local isn't Broadcasting in HD

Well if that's the case just listen to a radio station that isn't owned by Clear Channel. Oh wait, nevermind.

Blame Granny if your Favorite Local isn't Broadcasting in HD

Edited for content: My point exactly. We're not talking about the man giving someone money for food or hospital visits. We're talking about a TV converter box. And by the way, if you are that bad off, WHY HAVEN'T YOU SOLD YOUR TV YET?? If $10 means a week's worth of meals, I'm pretty sure...

Blame Granny if your Favorite Local isn't Broadcasting in HD

If you have to have the government GIVE you a $10 box, you need to get off the couch, pawn your TV, and go get a job.

    More billing problems

I just don't want this to keep happenening, its not a big deal. Trust me, I have other credit cards. *sigh*

    More billing problems

I cancelled the credit card just in case Voom still can't get their sh** together, which is extremely likely. Because of this, I won't ever go back to Voom. I posted here to warn others about my experience, in the hopes that they will protect themselves.

    More billing problems

Why should Wilt have to do everything for this company? Why couldn't a supervisor handle a simple refund? Like I said before, I hope they fail, and fail HUGE. I tried calling my CC company, but they said since it was a recurring charge it reflects a contract between me and Voom, therefore...

    More billing problems

I cancelled Voom about a month and 1/2 ago, and the other day my CC got charged for a month of service. I called Voom and asked them about it, and they said that the installers had not yet posted my equipment as returned, therefore not closing my account. The CSR put me on hold, called the...

Voom rated "best HDTV programming" by Stuff Magazine

as opposed to that "other" HD provider?? Voom has almost every currently available HD channel in its lineup. That's like saying Tivo is the most wanted DVR.

    The unofficial pity-party thread

I moved to a new apartment and it turns out that I have no LOS for Voom, D*, or E* due to trees. I have to go back to the horrible tragedy that is *cable*. :river NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Did you try to get Voom and had no luck due to LOS issues? If anyone else feels my pain, feel free to...

Trees blocking signal - will a larger dish work?

how far uphill are we talking? It's possible to mount a dish in a tree, so that could be a third option depending on your situation. As far as a bigger dish goes, Voomers have made progress with a bigger dish to fight rain fade so I guess the same principle would work for trees. A 24' tower...

H-Town Voomers post here (yee haw!)

A couple quick definitions: Manual scanning: the ability of the voom box to scan for local channels that your antenna can receive. Currently Voom does not have this feature. OTA: stands for Over The Air programming, also known as local digital/HD channels that you get with an antenna...
