I have actually spoken to a high level Dish engineering manager responsible for the 811. The 811 "49%" OTA problems are with multipath rejection and dealing with faulty/non-standard encoding at the source, the transmitting stations. The 811 performs much poorer than many other brand receivers in...
Well, everyone was right. After 24 hours they are there. I think the installer didn't want to call in for an immediate update because the phone waits are so long.
The really good news is the VOOM Ota tuner works really well. That is compared to the Dish 811 that I no longer have because it...
Showing 0-4, 0-8 0-10. I don't even know what those are. NONE of my locals are showing. I should have
4-1
6-1
9-1
11-1
13-1
27-1
30-1
58-1
These are all listed in Voom's on-line channel guide for my area, and they are real, I get them on my other receiver.
The question is.... Is...
Maybe I asked it wrong.......
There are NO locals mapped. The installer said it takes 24 hours for that info to download. Is that true???
The Voom site shows all my locals should be mapped.
I just got installed 4 hours ago. Went well except locals are not mapped into guide. The installer said it can take up to 24 hours for the STB to get that info. Is that true?
BTW I am using my own antenna which works perfectly with my Samsung SIR-T151 HDTV receiver so I know I can get all...
I'll bet your problem is the 811. It is one of the poorest OTA receivers around. It has trouble with some PSIP encoding as well as multipath rejection and interference from adjacent channels. The only way to prove this is to try another receiver, a stand alone one. I got the Samsung T151 and a...
After reading this thread I decided to call VOOM/Installs Inc to verify my install scheduled for June 3. First I called the VOOM number, selected install. The person I talked to said my equipment had not been shipped yet due to shortages and he could not offer any firm commitments on new install...
Well, I signed up fro VOOM on the internet and installation scheduling snafus started immediately.
I scheduled an installation time at the end of my sign up process.
The next day I got an Email from Installs Inc to my email but to a person named Daryl Lee (not me) with the wrong Job...
Is there still "rumor" that VOOM will get InHD (or HDNET)?
I am concerned about OTA reception. I currently have Dish and the 811 receiver only locks on half of stations. However, I have also have a Samsung SIR T151 and it receives all of them. Can anyone rate VOOMS OTA receiver function...
The dark picture on the 811 SD outputs cannot be fixed in software, it is a hardware problem. It will be tweaked in the next release but not fixed. Thats one of the reasons it is taking so long to get that release out. Remember it was supposed to be fixed in 255.
I will not state how I know...
I think there is more to this. Where I live, in mountainous terrrain, all the local stations have multiple repeaters for their analog signals so everyone in the area can get them. I was told that with the DTV rollouts a few years ago, each station was allocated only one frequency for digital...
I have both connected to my TV, Sony 42we610, LCD rear projection, from my 811. I can flip back and forth rapidly. I can see no difference.
By the way, contrary to the 811 manual, the DVI and component outputs are simultaneously active!
