DirecTV adding DNS locals for some unserved markets

Bummer, Charlottesville, VA still out in the cold Still no options other than waivers and expensive DNS for Charlottesville (22903) It's right in there with the rest of these towns with a DMA of 183. I've gotta move:rolleyes:

    "Moving" technique question??

OK, I just did a search. Terms used: moving and address. Almost 500 hits (15 pages). Looked though the 1st 100 hits. I found people that used relative's address (one MIL, one parents) and used their vacation cabin. I couldn't find any hints on finding/using an address if you don't have one...

    "Moving" technique question??

Before I start, I want everyone to know I understand and fully appreciate the legal/ethical concepts involved here. I am in a DMA (22903)with NO LOCALS available. I cannot get the DNS service in HD. I would like to "move" to the Washington D.C area so that I can receive the D.C. local...

    Distant Networks in HD?

Yea, I want to know that too. And how do I do it without jeopardizing my current waivers? It's not that I want SD and HD, just I don't want to loose my SD waiver if the HD waivers are shot down (the whole waiver thing is a crapshoot to some extend). And if I call D*, is there a particular...

    Distant Networks in HD?

I have had the waivers for SD DNS since 2000 and pay for them.

    Distant Networks in HD?

I don't want both. I just want the DNS in HD. I would be happy to give up DNS in SD.

    Distant Networks in HD?

So how do I do that? Apparently it is not automatic (I checked and I do not get the 390's). I have already spoken to 2 CSR's, one who didn't have a clue to what I was talking about and one who has already told me it is impossible. Do I risk blowing my waivers? B

    Distant Networks in HD?

Well, actually you have a point. I was looking in the 380's. OTOH, when I put the guide into "HD Only" the networks don't show up. I'll have to double check when I get home. If I can't get the DNS in HD, I might just have to move:cool:

    Distant Networks in HD?

So, I don't have any locals where I live (22903), so obvoiusly no SD locals and no HD locals. There are no published plans to add locals to my market (per all the D* CSR). I already have a wiaver to receive the SD distants (and have had that waiver for years). Since I already have waivers for...

    Distant Networks in HD?

Hi, I finally decided to upgrade to HD service (from my old Hughes Directivo) and now am the proud non-"owner" of an HR24. Anyway, I get the distant networks from NYC, as I have no locals and have had waivers for a long time. When I called to get the HD upgrade, I was told I would receive...

Old Total Choice. Want new HD

Hi, Right now I have one of the old packages, Total Choice. I am relatively happy with the channel lineup (though there is a lot of extra cr&p I don't need; shopping, etc). I have an old Hughes Directivo and now want to upgrade to a new HD-DVR. Will I still be able to keep my Total Choice...

    Re-ordering Dish???

My home locals are on 129. I cannot get a LOS for 129. Washington DC locals are on 61.5. I can get a LOS for 61.5 with the eastern arc 1000.4. This part of the reasoning seems to be pretty well agreed upon based on my previous posting. B

    Re-ordering Dish???

Hi, Last week I had an installer come out to do a new E* install. There was no LOS for locals so I canceled (and received an email with a cancellation notice). Details can be found in this post. I have never had dish before, just a single, recent, aborted install. Anyway, based on the...

    No LOS for locals. Options?

I have the OTA antenna hooked up to a Samsung LCD tv. Also had it hooked up to a Zenith converter box. Problem is all but one station (NBC which I get fine) are 15.0 kw or less, with trees and hills in the path (tvfool.com signal analysis). I might try an amplifier on my OTA antenna and see...

    No LOS for locals. Options?

Yup. At 45dg elevation and an almost due south direction, I clear, by a wide margin, the trees around the house.. So it looks like there really would be no way (assuming I get an HD package), they could use 2 out of the 3 sats on the western arc? B
