I have done a power scan and WVXF is the only NBC station I can find. (Fortec star dynamic)

I have been watching the Olympics on it with no trouble except occasional mild pixilating in fast action shots. When things slow down the picture is fine. Haven't figured this one out yet. Signal and quality are great.

    Weather Channel

I was flipping around on AMC9 last night and got it. Watched a very interesting feature about smog, the 1948 Donora PA disaster. I believe it was one of the MUX stations.

pulling my hair out aligning dish

My dish pole was ever so slightly out if plumb when I first got started . By straightening the pole it made a world of difference and the rest came much easier. I have found that patience, precision and paying attention to all the great help from this forum makes for a thoroughly enjoyable hobby.

    AmericanLife TV encrypted?

OK that explains it. I must have read wrong. On the lyngsat site looked like it was a free channel. Thanks, but I still have a lot of reading and learning to do here before I even think of connecting my 922.

    AmericanLife TV encrypted?

I have been trying to get AmericanLife on my Foirtec Dynamic but AMC 18 is not listed in the receivers menu. Can someone explain how to add AMC 18? I'm not having much luck (still a newbie). I have AMC 15 locked in that is also at 105w according to lyngsat website.

As for the second dish, it would take a crane just to put the mount back up on the existing 6" pole. I found the dish (in 4 sections) back in the woods covered in brush and weeds. It is fiberglass and REALLY BIG. No apparent damage to it though, seems like it was retired and put out of sight...

Once LAK7 got me on the right track it wasn't as difficult as I thought. I have been reading this forum dilligently for a couple weeks now so as to not ask too many stupid questions and have seen that LAK7 and everyone here are very patient and knowledgeable. The help is very much appreciated.

Not yet. Chainsaw has to help with that one. Since the previous owner of my home installed the dish, the trees have grown quite a bit. There was a pizza dish on the house when I bought it so I assume the BUD had been out of commission for some time. They also left a second BUD (disassembled) ...

Understood. Thanks to your help I have gone from 0 to 100 without knowing how to drive, to Mach5 with a learners permit. This is getting a bit addicting ! I'm myself not a big TV watcher (but the Mrs. is) I am having more fun making this work than actually watching TV.

Got it. However I had to eyeball the dish and more or less take a shot in the dark. The signal strength bar remains at 40 no matter where the dish was UNTIL I start a scan, then it lights up.

The wife now has control of the TV. I'll be able to list some channels a little later. I do remember one channel in English, AMG.
