I gave up waiting and switched to DirectTV.

Recently subscribed to DirecTV and have a Genie HR44. I know that I can record up to 5 channels simultaneously. My question is, if I am recording 5 can I also watch a previously recorded show or does that also take up a tuner? Thanks.

I don't assign blame to anyone, but the loss of Fox is the final issue that has me moving to DirecTV. First there were the vague promises that Dish would eventually carry ALL the EPL soccer games that never happened. Then there was the Hopper, whose "hopping" capabilities are being negotiated...

I was watching soccer on 159 but the pictures were definitely not hd.

I thought it was being broadcast by Dish in HD. I could have sworn I was watching it in HD but it isn't anymore. Am I just confused?

That's right - because Dish doesn't want to prevent you from seeing commercials, just give you the option to skip them (I am sure for legal reasons)

The emphasis on broadband internet seems to assume that internet providers will keep a price structure that allows unlimited downloads. As more and more people access broadband internet, unlimited downloads (at a cheap price) are likely to disappear. You already see this happening with cell...

You don't need an IR Blaster just to control the Hopper. You can set it to accept IR signals. That is what I do with my Harmony 1100.

I agree, the FSC+ SD video is also extremely poor. But it is not SD in general. I get my locals in SD and they are much better.

Guess I will wait until the EPL starts this year and see how they are. Thanks

I just subscribed to Fox Soccer plus. I realize it is only broadcast by Dish in SD, but the video is horrible. Some of games look like they were uploaded to YouTube from a smart phone. Is this typical?

Nope - have not had the problem at all.
