New User Question about recording

Recently subscribed to DirecTV and have a Genie HR44. I know that I can record up to 5 channels simultaneously. My question is, if I am recording 5 can I also watch a previously recorded show or does that also take up a tuner? Thanks.

In case you are ever really up against it, On Demand downloading also works in addition to 5 recordings at a time (or live viewing). In that respect you can record 5 things, watch 1-4 (if you use clients), and download one all at the same time.
