Left my satellite receiver unplugged by accident and luckily cloud DVR recorded my NFL game. When trying to finish watching later in the day, the recording was gone.

Is this due to plugging the satellite receiver back in? Online tech support wasn't helpful.

Is there any way to get the cloud recording back?

During Hurricane Beryl I lost power for about a week and a half, during which I stayed with my sister who still had power. I was still able to set and watch recordings with the DirecTV app despite my Genie at home being offline, however when the power came back on my Genie re-synched with the app and all the recordings I made since the power outage disappeared from my cloud DVR. Unfortunately I think that's the way their system works in terms of synching the cloud dvr used in the app and your Genie DVR so I don't think there's any way to get those recordings back.

There is no cloud DVR for satellite. Are you subscribed to both DIRECTV Satellite and DIRECTV Stream?

Unless this has changed recently there is no cloud DVR for the DIRECTV app for satellite customers. When you record something from the app it is the genie that actually does the recording which it cannot do while offline. Whatever you were watching while your GENIE was offline had to be coming from OnDemand content. Unless DIRECTV recently created a cloud DVR for satellite customers which I have not heard anything like that.

When they (re?) added the ability to watch DVR recordings in the DirecTV app a couple of years ago instead of streaming from the Genie they had you link your DVR to the app (now it might happen automatically) so when you set a recording it goes to both your Genie and cloud DVR. The cloud DVR recordings for satellite customers expire in 90 days as opposed to 9 months for streaming customers (while remaining on your physical DVR). The programs I was recording and watching when my Genie was down weren't on demand. They were mostly local news shows not available on demand, plus I could skip over the commercials.

WOW it does seem to work the way you describe. DIRECTV must be guarding this secret like the Normandy invasion of WW II. Can't find any info about it online. I know on my system it didn't use to work this way but haven't tried it in a while. How did you find this out?

Believe my account is provisioned wrong, as I used to have a stream account and they never deleted it. Will try tech support again, but wasn't helpful online at least.

Time and experience with the app in situations like the one I described. Also, for a split second before your programs load when you click on the "My Library" tab in the DTV app it shows a blue background that says "True Cloud DVR".

"True Cloud DVR" is not showing up even for a split second in the app when I go to "My Library". I tried it about 5 times but never see that. My app is on the Apple TV.

OK back to the original question:

I unplugged my HR54 and recorded a show. After the HR54 was plugged back in the recording I made using the app does not show up in the HR54 DVR list. The recording finished 22 minutes ago but it is still there on the DIRECTV app on my Apple TV and I can watch it.

OK in my testing if I record from the app it records to the hard drive in my HR54 and the recordings show up on my satellite receivers and in the app. When I am done with them I delete them and they are gone. In my testing earlier today I unplugged my HR54 and recorded my local NBC channel via the app and it recorded it and it is in the DVR list in the app. I plugged in the HR54 and after it started up I checked the DVR list on it and that recording is not there. It is still in the app recordings. But now how do I delete the cloud recording as you can't delete recordings from the app? Does it just have to sit there for the 90 days you said satellite customer recordings were good for? And of course I can't delete it from the HR54 because it isn't listed there.

In my experience there may be a delay of a few hours or even a day or so but eventually that recording you made without your Genie will disappear since it eventually synchs to your physical DVR list where it was never present.

That makes sense. Tech support had no idea and recommended calling back for "SAT specific tech team." Very difficult to understand and wish DirecTV would use North American call centers.

The recording I made from the app was 6 hours ago and it is still not showing on the HR54 recording list but it is still in the app DVR list. I will just leave it and see what happens.

Once the sat receiver was plugged back in, the Cloud one disappeared. The old NFL recordings are still in the cloud, but those are the same as in the box.

With the test I did yesterday the cloud recording was still in the app DVR list but not in the HR54 DVR list when I went to bed. When I got up today the cloud recording was gone from the app DVR list. As far as I know the cloud recording never went into the HR54 DVR list. I guess I need to set a recording on my HR54 and then in the middle of it pull the plug on the HR54 and see if the recording continues via the cloud and then see what is in each DVR list.
