Well it just might be that that station has something in their data stream that the ViP612 doesn't agree with. It might be worth the try to contact the stations engineering department, explain you problem and find out if others with 612's are having like problems.

Strangely your 612 my be getting some crossover interference from the other receiver. You should first try removing the splitter and hooking directly to the 612 to see if that helps. If it doesn't then try moving the 612 a few feet away from the other receiver just to test. If that doesn't...

Without pulling the lid, it could be any number. It could simply be the fan, even if it is plastic. Pulling the lid may have a negative effect on the warranty. It might be best to have E* send you a replacement.

Sounds like a wire is intermittently contacting the fan which then vibrates the heat sink.

The OTA channels that are true HD (720p/1080i) should also have the HD watermark. Those channels are just as HD as the satellite channels.

My version B with L401 did the same thing. Mine was just wounded, I got them back by doing a power cord reboot. Sounds like it killed yours.
