    HH Motors Ku

Oh for a 1.2m on an SG2100... you guys are making me rather nostalgic.

New Year! Any big FTA projects this year?

My goal this year: Get an FTA setup going again... it's been too long. And with poor tv reception here, it would be justified- er, handy- too ;)

    Hello Everyone!

Very good points. Yes, I'd planned on a stamped-steel one. My SG2100 was "rated" for 1.2m dishes, but really struggled and groaned at anything other than the middle of the arc. If I'm going to invest in a new dish (haven't found anything used around here), you know the saying... bigger is better...

lol! Yay for engrish... or is that slang from da hood? ;)

    Hello Everyone!

That definitely sounds like the motor I want, thanks. Hrm, it says "up to 1.4m" dishes... I'm not able to find a north american vendor that sells 1.4m dishes, just 1.2m. Anyone have a suggestion?

    Hello Everyone!

It sounds like my best bet is a MicroHD STB (thanks for the great review, Ice)- hopefully used, since money is tight at the moment. I'm hunting around for any old Ku dish locally to start with. What's the word on the latest HH motors? My old SG2100 really used to struggle under the weight of a...

Kijiji, eBay, and Craigslist dishes for you to take a look at

Thanks for the heads-up! I'll keep looking. If you're in my neck of the woods, let me know if you spot anything over 30" :)

    Hello Everyone!

Speaking of retro... hi guys :) Sort of on topic so not a thread hijack- I now live in Lakebay, WA, and finally have some property to start thinking about an FTA setup again! After years of being gone, what advice would you fine folk have?

    Murphy's Law of FTA

Add this to Murphy's: Due to the failing economy and growing bills, you no longer have the money to leave the house; therefore, finally have time for FTA! However, because of the aforementioned dilemma, the spiffy if dusty Visionsat IV 200 and spare dish must be sold off :( Thank goodness...

    Rant: Go Deer Hunting

The annoying thing is I've had deer in my path before. Years ago back in NY, it was 1am on a country road, and I managed to swerve around one a little '89 Dodge Spirit. Last year I was driving my wife's '05 Grand Am on a back road at midnight, and managed to maneuver through a bunch of them...

    New to the hobby

Welcome to SatelliteGuys! :D I wouldn't think tiny dings that small (if I'm imagining it correctly) would make that big of a difference. Not to mention that a 39" (I'm jealous, see above comment about dish envy) should pull most things in beautifully. I've done both. There's an ancient...

    Line of sight

Isn't there some kind of Murphy's Law type rule in FTA hobbying that there will always be a neighbor's tree branch in the way of at least 20 degrees of view? Often compounded with the fact that Galaxy 18 will be smack in the middle of the obstruction? ... sorry, bit of humor ;) On a...

    Rant: Go Deer Hunting

It looks like most of the damage was plastic and fiberglass, plus the metal that holds that and the grill on. I already checked around, though, and no one within 200 miles had parts for something this old, of any color. My car really stuck out around here. Back east you could always find a...

    Rant: Go Deer Hunting

Thanks, I missed it here. Luckily (I guess) the older Buicks have a big, high front end. If I were in a Saturn SL2 or something, I'm sure the deer would have been on my hood or windshield. Sorry about the anger and talk of violence. :o I'm really not like that, but this car was my most /...
