Carp, How did you get in contact with the loyalty dept? Been with D for 10 years and after some conversation the CSR offer the 622 at no charge but 722 was gonna cost me $75. Free is better.:D

I own a 3700 and a 501, (yes, still haven't updated to HD) neither of which was plugged to phone line until a couple weeks ago and am charged a $5 add'l receiver fee.

Yeah,when I first heard the pricing it was not what I was expecting.

I did the tech support route the other day to see if the HD upgd offer was same was same as csr route, it was with the exception of DVR advantage......csr mentioned it, tech did not.

I get that message as well. So why won't they just give me a 722? LMAO

Got a holiday promo email the other day so called Dish about upgrading to HD, and here's the offer. 612 Free 622 $50 211 $75 222 $100 722 $125 Price included installation and antenna upgrade and DVR advantage would take care of the $5.98/mo. If they'd offered me the $21/mo credit for the 722...

The 622 is $50, the 722 is $125. Hmmm...wonder if I could call and negotiate a better deal?:D If I go with either of the above, then the dvr advantage would take care of the $5.98, and hooking it into phone line (just purchased phonex jack) would eliminate the $5 addl rec fee. However...

So before this CC debacle I was on the verge of calling Dish to upgrade to HD and take advantage of the free 612 offer. Now, I'm not so sure. On the brighter side, the Philips DVD recorder arrived today!

I've been a Dish sub for over 10 yrs and because I am about to switch to HD I watched the CC last night for the first time. My review in a word: YIKES.:eek: It reminded me of a Friday Night High School football radio broadcast. I watched about 5 minutes and went back to MNF.

dlsnyder, So what was the result of the tech coming out today?

Is it perception or are today's receivers a POS compared to legacy receivers? I'm still using a 3700 that's given me zero problems, and bought a 501 almost 4 yrs ago and it's been equally as solid. Had a 1000 for years before that and no issue. Just makes me wonder.

Ah, good point, and just when I had settled on the 612. Reading through quite a few threads today and it seems like 622 has more than it's share of problems though.
