    Coax cable selection questions

I the coax run is over 500ft. I would consider using RG-11 because of the lower signal loss. RG-6 is what is normally used. Commscope does make good cable.

Signal gets better when holding coax in hand ???

Your hand could be causing the signal to radiate less out of the cable so you get more signal to the set.

Technicians no help, picture still bad

Your problem may be due to the particular TV set you own and the compression used by the satellite provider. I have heard that some sets can't handle the compression as well as some others. I think the quality issue you mentioned is due to the amount of channels that are added to the...

    not enough coaxial cables

Using a stacker may solve your problem. It changes the down converter frequency to a different band so it doesn't interfere with the regular L-band signal.

Losing channels on Spotbeam 3 after 6pm

I have had the same problem with spot beam 9 on satellite 119. Several thoughts have come up as to what causes this but I can't say for sure what it is. The bottom line is, you need a larger dish to overcome the problem.

    Dyplexing

The pass through frequency band is usually stated on the device label.

    Pulling hair (what's left) out

If the OTA signals run through your satellite receiver then I would say that the problem is in the receiver. If you can run the OTA signals directly to the TV this will eliminate any possibilty of the receiver causing this and will show you if that is the cause or not.

    Switch problems with dual LNB

I would try a different switch. It sounds like the RCA unit is not working like it should.

    Pulling hair (what's left) out

I forgot to mention also in my first post that one of the diplexers could indeed be at fault here with an internal intermitant connection.

    Pulling hair (what's left) out

My thinking is you either have a intermitant connection to the TV antenna or some signal is coming in and overdriving the front end. You could try putting in a 10db attenuator in the line to see if that helps solve this problem.

Wiring question -- component (long run)

This will work for you as the others have stated. This type of coax isn't ideal video cable though, as it is really designed for working at higher frequencies. I have recently started working with Beldon 1855 "Brilliance Cable" that is designed for video applications and I really like it. It is...

    Poor 110 Sat reception

By using a pencil or thin marker pen you should be able to keep track of the original position. Moving a dish is pretty simple just beware that a 1/8 of an inch is a lot of movement. You may have to move the elevation also. I would see if you can get any more signal on the 110 by sighting on it...

    Amplifying Off Air Signal???

Your welcome for the help. Hope it works out ok for you, it shouldn't be a problem.

    Amplifying Off Air Signal???

Since you have the SA amplifier and the 8-way splitter go ahead and try it. It will probably be enough gain to get a good signal. If it isn't enough gain to give a clear picture then insert the other amp before the SA amp and use one of the four outputs to drive the SA amp. Then you should be...
