HDMI vs. DVI vs. Component for D* HDTV

My understanding is that HDMI and DVI should produce exactly the same results - speaking only of video (HDMI can also carry audio), HDMI and DVI are the same signal, just different plugs. That's why adapters are so cheap - it's just a pin to pin mapping. If you get differing results, it's...

How far can you run RCA cables?

A 20ft RCA cable run shouldn't be a problem. I'd just make sure you have a high quality cable. Look for one that has a thicker video cable. If you have the option, use s-video. A while back I picked up some nice 25ft S-video w/ stereo audio cables from ebay for about $20 - dunno what's out...

Another happy Dish to DirecTV convert

I just switched from Dish to DirectTV this weekend and couldn't be happier. Bought my equipment from ValueElectronics. Had a good experience with them, the equipment, and DirecTV. Seeing the difference in the equipment really makes me wonder how Dish is still in business - perhaps they're...

NBC Showcase Issues with 5xx DVRs

My 501 does not switch audio feeds when I move the yellow box between the stations. After I hit the select button, both the audio and video come up fine as expected, but when all six channels are on the screen I can only get the audio from the highlights channel. I've pretty much stopped...

The 921 to have a dvd recorder added by the middle of the year.

Let's not forget about the elusive firewire ports... Theoretically they could be used to attach any number of both harddrives and DVD writers. One can dream....

    Best RG6 Coax Connectors

I've been using the Snap-N-Seal connectors around my house and been very happy with them. You can pick up a bag of 50 connectors off ebay for $5-$15, and a decent compression tool for around $30. This is the one that I've got... it's not the best, but it's ratcheting and the price was...
