i went back recently, and i looked thru the box they had it in and (i guess) to justify the price, they had an ebay printout of what it sold for. kinda sad. it could be possible to argue the price seeing as im sure they paid nothing for it.

i just got back from the 2nd hand store, Habitat for Humanity in Norwalk, across from Cerritos College. and i spotted a 4dtv receiver for $150. unfortunately, i didn't get a model # but it's a motorola receiver. anyone that's local to the area should check it out.

it arrived in SoCal Wednesday morning. So much better. the guide & color scheme are now full screen in HD & you can now eliminate channels you're not subscribed to (without doing a separate favorites guide). i only have non-dvr HD receivers so i cant comment on the DVR side of things but totally...

I know how you feel. im waiting for the upgrade as well. i went with the non-DVR boxes and i love it. I was dumping $150/mo for DirecTV. its pretty awesome.

i highly suggest if you decide to aim a laser into the sky, you dont want to aim it near an aircraft. here in LA, someone was recently arrested for hitting a laser at a plane. how they found the person, i'll never know.

whoops! that's AU-9's Slimline. heheh... seems that one of my lines was getting old and when i wiggled it around at the satellite port, the signal was breaking up at the receiver. all better now.

wow, as a resident of LA, i cant imagine games not being on KCAL 9. ive been watching them since it was KHJ 9!

all the Ku band satellites are coming in strong and when i get to 99 & 103, i get nothing but 0's. when I reset the box, the levels come back up. the box has been reset 3 times in the last 24 hrs. and i've reauthorized it twice. i guess my next option would be to try another output on the dish...
