I called Dish and they will only give you a SNAP when they visit your house. They will not send you one. I own a Hopper 1 and would love to speed up the unit. Anyone know of a way to get one sent to you?

I own my Hopper 1st generation. I am thinking of dropping Dish. What happens the recordings that I have saved? Will it still be usable as a DLNA device?

Thanks for the USB suggestion. I had already thought of that. Issue. USB = 5 Volts - not very powerful. Standard fan connector = 12 Volts - much more powerful cooling. I guess I could use the power off the SATA hard drive with several adapters. Just will look like a kludge.

Thanks this I new about this work around. I wanted to turn off DHCP - just another possible security hole. I have 1 DHCP address open so it gets that address every time.

IS there a way to set a static IP address and not use DHCP on the Hopper?

Solved with a work-around PlayOn gave up. I converted them from .mp4 files to .mpg files with a video converter. They play fine now. I have other .mp4 files not recorded with PlayLater that play fine and do not need to be converted.
