My 211 will cause screen freezing (but the sound continues to work), does this without fail every 4-5 hours necessitating a reboot.

when you dont run at the TV's optimum resolution the picture may look a bit grainy. Same thing occurs on my Panasonic plasma in anything other than HD or at least watching a DVD via upconversion.

They will prob install a dish 1000. The dish 1000, in addition to other things, will allow you to view ALL the HD channels. You would miss out on one satellite with the dish500. I have a dish500, which is being replaced with a 1000 on sunday when i upgrade to HD.

First call to upgrade went fine, upgraded to the vip 211, tech said I need no upgrade to the dish 500 I have. Gave them my cc for the $49 and was good to go. Then I learned otherwise about the dish requirement thanks to this forum. Called back, another tech, claims that I was misinformed...

Im on hold now...going over this...yes you will miss out some channels w/o the dish1000 he says and hes unsure why the earlier tech did not mention this. Im in Los Angeles FWIW. Will report back when I get off the phone.

The tech asked me what receiver I would be returning, which sounded like they did not care which model. $25 credit if you DO return it. It did not even sound mandatory.

I ordered the local channels and gold package + HBO, the tech stated my 500 would be fine. Hmm....

Just upgraded via phone also, tech told me Dish 500 would get everything except for VOOM and I did not need to install another Dish unless I wanted that or the dual tuner DVR.

Thanks Scott, yes it was my original dealer way back in 2000 I think...had zero interaction since then. Just figured it might be a quicker solution to go down there an pick up a 211 vs. waiting 7-10 for dishnetwork to send it.
