Can I just point the dish and upgrade the software and then use it for ota channels? I have all the equipment but I no longer sub to voom. I am not trying to hack or anything like that I just don't feel that the service is worth it and I want to use the hardware for something... Thanks

I have a voom stb with software 5.68 on it. Can I use it as on OTA only STB? This would work perfect just to get the locals in HD. Thanks!

As with anything there is good and bad. This is ridiculous! You shouldn't have to go and hold an installers hand to make sure it works correctly. Are everyone of you getting all your OTA's and Voom channels with no issues?

I don't want to pay 600.00 for a Dish 811 system. It ins't worth it, and I like my PVR501 with no monthly fee for the PVR functions.

Hello... To be honest with you... I would keep echostar. I also have DishNetwork and find myself using it more and more. The only time I switch to voom is to wach HD locals. So unless you plan to get the full VaVaVoom package for 80.00+ a month I would say just go and get a HDTV set top box...

Mine does this whenever I change HD to SD and if the HD formats are different. I just thought this was how it tuned...? I set my Voom box to the auto select (all 4 bars.)

Not true. They have been moved to the VA VA Voom package. You would have to be gradfathered in to get them.
