I only use compression style connectors. Any problem with those?

I checked to see if I had any local channels set up and found that there weren't any. I must have removed them at some point. dwarren2.....do you do the system info test when its working again or do you do it when you've lost signal?

I use to have an antenna connected to the 722 but since removed it. Would having the channels still setup in the program guide cause this problem?

Its that I've lost the signal. That's when I can unscrew the satellite coax, reconnect it and it goes through the "reacquiring routine"

I've had a VIP722 for several years. A couple of years ago, it started requiring the satellite coax to be unscrewed from the splitter and reconnected. Then it'll go through the acquiring satellite and download program guide. It doesn't do it every time and often goes for several days before...

I'm trying to figure out how the genie mini is hooked up through the house to the genie. This would be a wired installation and not the wireless version. It appears to be a coax which makes me think that its some form of Moca. Thanks in advance.

I though the satillite companies were either reducing bit rate(that be Directv)or changing the vertical resolution (Dish) to save bandwidth. If that's so, then shouldn't the OTA recording be a bit better than the satellite equivalent?

I use a harmony remote so from her perspective, there won't be any difference. I'll just have to do a little programming. My wife was information systems technical support. She loves to setup computers yet wants her remote control to be very simple. Go figure.

Only problem is that there are no local dealers that sell both. It sounds like your had an experience that would indicate otherwise. If so, could you elaborate?

I thought with the Hopper the tuner number count was overstated since during prime time several are being used to that function which would not leave you but one or two for other content.

I would like to have the 5 independent tuners and the better picture quality that I've heard is available with Direct over Dish. If I understand the Hopper correctly, it doesn't offer the tuner options that the Genie has. ....and if the combination of OTA and Satellite tuners get me what I...
