    Titanium Satellite Servo drift SOLVED!

For a whole month was plagued with seemingly random signal outages on my BUD. Swapped RX, LNB, DiSEqC switches, even the positioner (ASC-1). It started with a drop in SNR after about one hour on the same xponder. Eventually, I couldn't maintain lock for more than ten minutes. The quick fix...

    Linear/C-pol switched feed BUD project

Antenna is in an open field, so it's clear from 139W back to 11W before a ridgeline gets in the way. Have to swap actuator positions from West to East to see anything below 27W. An H-H motor is a project on my list. Thanks for the bookmarks... I'll try these out. The second full scalar...

    Linear/C-pol switched feed BUD project

Well, I've heard the best preamps money can buy are made by Stihl and Husquevarna ....

    Linear/C-pol switched feed BUD project

My Sunday project was to add another feed to my 10-foot Unimesh, for circular polarization reception. The recipe called for an old scalar ring and single-band polarotor, LNB, junk metal brackets, and a cheesy plastic cutting board. It was a success. Quick look at the photos and diagram...

Black Hole and Vu+ Uno 4KSE

Brian -- thanks for clearing that up. Realized that was what was going on as well after a few more rounds with the thing. Oh -- and I'm happy to report that the Vu+ and ASC1 play nicely together! ;) I've seen the Zeros, but was intrigued by Uno's dual tuner. And I've seen threads...

Black Hole and Vu+ Uno 4KSE

As it would happen, I finally took.delibery of another Enigma box just this month. Exec summary of first impressions: Vu+ Uno 4KSE is a sleek, flexible, fast box in terms of boot and manual scan. Learning curve on programming and western longitude operating idiosyncrasies is marginal for a an...

    Sun Spots???

Sounds like feed setup ain't optimal (like Ti said) to me.... Lobes may be pulling some solar noise. Noon PDT at 99w sounds reasonable. If the freeze goes away for a few days, this theory looks more accurate.

    NBC Mux On 105W

Flux like that is typically terrestrial born interference in my experience. WVMAN, the ABC issue could be that air conditioning around you is cycling on and off in prime time, vs during midday it's just on. Arc in those contactors, or from dirty brushes in the condenser fans can make...

    Titanium Satellite Polarity control case

Following up. Ran new Cat6 STP dedicated to servo action 100% from ASC1 to servo. Pairs were doubled for each line (5VDC = WhBu/But, Pulse = WhOr/Or, Gnd = WhGn/Gn) to keep voltage drop in check over this long run. Super clean action now. Thanks Ti and EST for the the on this one.

    Titanium Satellite Polarity control case

I hear y'all on ragging me on the wire choice. ;). No prob. Here is some more detail... It is not quite so ugly as 100% cat. Leg 1 is about 15' (ASC1 TO BASEMENT TVSS JUNCT) .as described 1 run Cat6. LEG 2 is abt 225' (HOUSE TO ANT MAST). Here, motor hops off to a larger gauge -- direct...

    Titanium Satellite Polarity control case

Here's a fun one. Linkbox 9000iLocal Ti ASC1 250' of cable Uniden 10' w/ VonWiess linear mover Chapparal C/Ku servo-driven feed Worked great up until a few weeks ago. Started losing servos -- or apparently so -- polarity control would disappear. Swapped three of them. Then I took a pull...

    Planning Corotor II install

My CPII suffered a linkage failure a few weeks ago. Stuck with single band stuff the moment. I see eBay listing used Chapter CPIIs for about 150% the price of new ones from some broadcast vendors.... I think my replacement will be a new one.

    Late Titanium asc1 review

Thanks for the write-up. I think the ASC1 is hard to beat. Mine went "blank screen" for a while if it had to move the 3m antenna more than about 20deg. Stop and wait, display would come back. Sometimes the LNB voltage would wink out in that '''blank" phase, too. Turns out, I had a bum...
