    Eutelsat 65W - C band range (4.5GHz - 4.8GHz)

Well, at minimum, half of 4000 to 4200 MHz will be reallocated to 5G in the coming years since the One Big Beautiful Bill Act that was passed into law requires that the FCC hold an auction for at least 100 MHz of spectrum between 3980 and 4200 MHz by no later than July of 2027...

Soon to be 93 W* bird if approved by the FCC

The Ku satellite at 91W within the 11700-12200 MHz range is nothing but regional spotbeams. What you scan in will likely vary depending on your location.

    99W NBC and PBS muxes

9.4 dB for the PBS mux on a 1.2 m dish is quite low, even in the Alberta part of the footprint. I have a 1.2 m dish and I am seeing ~16.0 dB on the PBS mux and ~15.7 dB on the NBC mux. Keep in mind the PBS mux requires 7.9 dB to lock and the NBC mux requires 9.4 dB.

    Another Spectrum Auction?

There was brief testimony about how OTA television is an outdated use of spectrum, but the main focus of the hearing ended up being how winning the "battle against China" for setting global 6G standards is dependent on quickly and safely auctioning off spectrum currently allocated to the...

    Another Spectrum Auction?

Today, the United States Senate Committee on Commerce, Science & Transportation held a hearing which, in Chairman Ted Cruz's words, "raised the alarm on the urgent need to auction spectrum to preserve America's global technology leadership, protect national security, create millions of jobs, and...

    Another Spectrum Auction?

What they might consider is a proposal made during the planning stages of the previous C-band auction: create buffer zones around registered C-band dishes where 5G wouldn't be allowed, thereby maintaining C-band for satellite use in the vicinity of registered dishes, at least in theory. By...

One week til the Eurovision Song Contest

During the first semifinal, I confirmed the following broadcasters had no geoblocks on their streams of the contest. Denmark is the best if you want the highest bit rate video, Ireland if you want English commentary. None of these required registration to view live video. Armenia AMPTV 1080p @...

One week til the Eurovision Song Contest

While I suppose they could geoblock to the US at any time in the future, RTE has never geoblocked their broadcasts of the contest through RTE Player, their live and on demand streaming service. The live streams are good quality 1080p at 6 Mbps.

Finding what Satellite I have the Dish presently

Since it sounds like this dish isn't going to be motorized, if you specifically want the PBS channels on 125°W, you should instead aim for the copies of them on 99°W because the ones on 125°W are supposed to be taken down in a few months. PBS at 99°W has been consistently weaker than at 125°W...

Any chances that new Ku band satellite 33 Galaxy will be use for videos feeds?

I saw Lyngsat lists a 4K HEVC Intelsat promo channel on the Ku side of Galaxy 33 at 133°W. I'm outside of the satellite's footprint to confirm if it's still there.

Canada: CBC signals plans to go full streaming, ending traditional TV and radio broadcasts

They let you watch a lot of content without even needing to set up a free account. You do not need to sign in to watch the live stream of CBOT Ottawa, for instance. The national and regional newscasts also stream freely worldwide through the CBC News website.

Bally Sports and MSG RSN Are Reportedly Preparing For Bankruptcy

Now that Scripps owns Ion and Nexstar owns The CW, they are licking their chops over the demise of RSNs potentially allowing them to acquire sports for those OTA networks as well as the local stations they own, especially independents in a duopoly with a "big four" affiliated station. Gray...

What happened to 95 W Ku?

Interesting. Intelsat told the FCC that they only intended to operate the C band payload of Galaxy 35, and the license they were granted reflects that intent.
