Ordered Directv, would like to pre-wire what I can, help?

Thanks for the replies. After posting this question I read about the requirement for solid copper wire, the wire I have is copper clad, so I may let him do most of it. The problem is the access is through a crawlspace, and the main TV is inside a converted fireplace. The crawlspace is tight...

Albany, GA local progamming info needed.

Yeah, I know they offer these but on their website it says SD for the top three but on a few list and from a few other post on other sites it seems they might actually be HD. I was hoping someone in my DMA could confirm or not if they are actually in HD.

Albany, GA local progamming info needed.

I am about to pull the trigger on D* but need some help. If anyone here is in the Albany, GA DMA please let me know if ABC (WJXX) and CW is in HD. When looking up the locals for my address on D* site they show as SD, but when researching it, it seems they are in HD. One list here says HD...

    New appreciation of Dish.

Plasma's typically consume more power than most lcds, to me though its not likely to break the bank. I do not like 120hz lcds at all, to me it makes the motion look unnatural and makes Blu-rays and DVDs look like they were shot on video. I love my Pioneer plasma and hope not to upgrade til 3D...

Echostar FCC 86.5W LIL HD filing

Don't really understand the technical conversation here, but I live in Southwest Georgia and my local HDs are on the western arc (129) and are at a 30 degree elevation. Could this satellite be something they will use to move our locals to an eastern arc with a higher elevation, making it easier...

    Buying receivers without cards?

Let me see if I understand this correctly, if I have finished my 2 year contract and I would like to add a second receiver, do I have to sign a new contract or do they just add the second receiver to my account?

    Buying receivers without cards?

What benefit is there for purchasing your own receiver? I can't think of one. What am I missing?

Been With DISH 48 Hours And Am NOT Happy!

He shouldn't have to, that's the job of the company he's paying money to do the job right and if they mess up they should fix it promptly.

dtv installer says grounded...i am not sure

If the main ground is reachable, close to the grounding block, you run a ground wire (10 gauge) to the main ground. If it is not reachable, not close enough, then you are best to run a ground rod as close to the grounding block as possible and then bond that rod to the main ground with 6 gauge...

dtv installer says grounded...i am not sure

The NEC code says to ground to the water pipe as a main ground, you must do so within 5 feet of where it enters the building. And for good reason as I found at with my house. I am in the processes of installing an antenna and dish. I was trying to find the main ground and it was not with the...

Are Locals going to move Sats with new additions?

I am in the Albany, Ga DMA and our locals (HD) are on the 129 sat, which I don't understand at all. It puts it so low in the sky compared to the other sats, that it must cause a lot of LOS issues. My question is will Dish be moving the locals around anytime soon, now that they are planning to...

dtv installer says grounded...i am not sure

That is not a good ground. Actually, to be in code, if you ground a Dish to its own grounding rod apart from the house ground you must bond the two grounds together with a 6 gauge wire. So not only is your ground bad, the ground needs to be in the dirt, it also needs to be bonded to the house...
