Looking Into Dish Network as Alternative to Cable

Definately. Unless the stories of your house are 50 feet. I think the UHF radius for DishNetwork remotes is 200 feet. Others might not be as high.

Dish... Subcontract installs have got to Go!!!

Honestly, with HD I cannot tell a difference. There's a good chance the techs can't either. Pointing the dish is something that they should cover and most techs will peak it now rather than getting hit with a trouble call within your 90 warranty. If your happy with how the HD channels look...

    will this work?

As far as cost goes it's easier to call Dish and ask for the upgrade. You're going to have to purchase a new LNBF which will probably cost more than it would to have Dish do it for you.

Rain*X on your dish and LNB ?

I'm pretty sure that wouldn't do jack for rain. Rain build up isn't usually the issue... The issue is the signal being blocked by rain in the atmosphere. Give it a shot though.

Cities try to illegally prohibit front yard satellite dishes

What I don't understand is HOAs changing the rules that they impose on home-owners and expecting the home-owner to comply. After I got my Dish installed on a pole mount in the back yard of my apartment, with the building manager present to sign the necessary paper work I thought it would be...

    Upgrade to HD

If you go below the Plat you'll get a 5.98 DVR fee. If you don't have HD programming, but you do have an mpeg-4 hd box there's a 6 HD Enabling fee. If you call in and ask for just the HD they're going to tell you "No" because Dish doesn't offer only the HD channels or the HD latino packs anymore.

    Phone Lines

The reason that happens is because if you're activating two dual tuners on an account and both need bypasses it adds the code to bypass the phoneline on once. Then it multiplies this code x 2, this should cover both boxes. It doesn't. If you have two dual tuners most likely you'll end up...

    New Promotion Starting July 1st

Eh, by everyone I meant international and non-international. DishFamily doesn't qualify, neither does any international package below 29.98.

    Vacation Home Account

If you try and set up a new customer account after you've already set up a promotional account before, if and when Dish finds out about it you'll be getting a phone call from the Audit Team. Most likely they will ask you to purchase back the receivers that you leased on your DHA account.

    Dish Equipment

If you don't have any HD equipment now you will most likely have to purchase one of the boxes. The 211 is $249, then 59 dollars to install it if you add it to the 622 upgrade. If you already have HD stuff then you can swap out your 811 for a 211 for 49 dollars and you can add the 622 for 199.99.

    Several Programming Questions?

Nope. To get RSNs and an HD Metal pack you have to have HD Silver.

Will they make me a better offer?

There's no DVR fee with the 721. (An excellent receiver) but you're still going to end up paying the 5 dollar additional receiver fee. You're going to haev to fill out that rebate form and wait. It takes at least 8-10 weeks once the form has been received before you even smell the credits.

DISH is a bunch of thieves

The promotion allows for 45 from the installation date to when your cut off for returning the receiver is. Date the install date and add 45. After you track the receiver and prove that Dish got your old receiver back before the 45 days was up, call dish. You'll probably end up talking to a...

    New Promotion Starting July 1st

Just DHA customers unless you're getting an international package that costs more than 29.98, then it doesn't matter what the promotion is as long as you use your SSN. I think the $10 rebate promotion is only for 10 months, it used to be for customers who have the 120 or above but now it's open...

Looking Into Dish Network as Alternative to Cable

You'll have to either purchaste two UHF remotes or buy them from Dish. A Dish Network branded remote isn't necessary... Try Radio Shack.
