You might be a SatelliteGuy if...

If you're out in the backyard at night with your significant other and instead of gazing at the stars, you point out the location of all the satellites in the sky. :D

    USDTV in Los Angeles?

I started picking up USDTV in the Los Angeles area using my OTA antenna and the ATSC tuner in my TV. Does anyone know of any plans for the services in L.A.? I called USDTV and the CS agent had no idea why I was picking up the service. I noticed they were also offering Starz, which isn't...

    OTA Antenna Grounding question

If I mount an OTA antenna to a metal vent pipe on my roof, do I need a ground? I assume a vent pipe is grounded. I guess I could verify with a DVM and the ground on an AC outlet.

MVDDS: VOOM and Echostar going to France to see the model

I think you may be missing the point of the new service. It is just another means for providing television service delivery. With up to 2000 channels covering a radius of 124 miles, this surpasses the capability of both local cable and satellite service. A provider no longer has to worry...

Is anyone incredibly surprised at Lost on ABC? Possible Spoilers

I've been watching the show, good PQ. Okay story line. They were on Oceania airlines. I believe the flight was from Australia to the US. The flight was 3000 miles off course when it crashed. The pilot was trying to divert the flight to the Fiji islands I believe. That would place them...

MVDDS: VOOM and Echostar going to France to see the model

Why would anyone need to use a cell phone tower? Based on the spec posted, the service has a range of 200KM, which is about 124 miles. If you put an antenna on the top of the Empire State building. You could reach as far north as Hartford and as far south as Philadelphia. This is about the...

    CA - La Verne-Upland-Covina-San Dimas

I'm in Pasadena. I have an ATSC tuner built into my TV. I'm using a $2 bow-tie antenna I had stored away. I get all the locals fine. This includes: 2.1, 4.1, 5.1, 5.2, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 9.1, 11.1, 28.1, 28.2 & 66.1. These are the channels I recall off the top of my head. I plan on installing a roof...

Who is going to Win the HD War?

I currently have only HD OTA channels. This includes the 6 major network, 3 PBS and numerous foreign language stations. My local cable provide, Charter, only offers 4 HD channels above the 4 major networks they provide. The only other HD options I have are either V* or D*. Subscribing to V*...

    Voom and Sears

I tried using the VOOM site to locate a VOOM dealer in my area. I called everyone listed, no one had it setup. So much for using the VOOM dealer locator :(

    Voom and Sears

I was passing by Sears in Pasadena last night and decided to pop in and see if they had Voom hooked-up yet. When I was in there a couple of weeks ago, they where in the process of renovating their audio-video department and the Voom was disconnected. It seems all the Sears in So CA are in the...
