We just tried it on the Joey in another room and we are having the same issue, no sound specifically to this video that is kept in the rental section of the dvr.

Our old dvr was crashing so made the move to the Hopper with a Joey. The tech is saying it has to be connected to internet. We are on Hughes Net and can't waste our usage. We don't watch movies on demand or online. Will this be an issue with normal viewing?

We are on the 9000 and am okay with the speed. We have 1 GB of bandwidth we can use daily (or abouts depending on if we have a heavy day of use and then don't get the full load the next day) and we still get 3 free refills per month. I don't think I would want to use up all our allotement early...

Yes even though I can do things in moderation due to us still not having gone to Gen4 so we still restock allowance every 24 hours and we have the highest lever. Of course that only allows us to watch one or maybe two episodes of a tv show or one movie each day.

But if I read correctly, you could only watch what each individual tv/box/dvr has recorded correct? I think the Hopper with Joey option will allow us to record from one and watch on the other?

Does this require a good internet connection at home? With hughesnet, it's just not gonna happen.

I'm getting ready to upgrade and this post gives me some concern. We have hughesnet so I wouldn't want anything connecting to our network that would use any bandwidth that I'm not fully aware of.

Thanks!Wasn't sure how that worked because one thing I wanted was to be able to record more than 2 programs At once. We do watch network tv and then a few cable shows that I have to set on one of the later play dates to get them all in.
