    Drive noise on HD20 700

Got feedback from the DTV forum that the drive should not be sounding like that. It should be whisper-quiet. Raoul, do you have this same drive? Do you think it's drive or fan noise?

    Drive noise on HD20 700

LOL, that's encouraging, Raoul... however the DVR is only warranteed for 90 days. Contract makes a big deal about how you are responsible for anything after that. Need to nip this in the bud... I've never had a DVR make that kind of noise, the Dish one was quiet, and so were all my Tivos.

    Drive noise on HD20 700

YouTube - DIrectTV hd noise This sporadic drive noise is consistent day and night, whether the unit is recording, playing back or idle. Is this normal? It's loud enough to be annoying at night and rises above low talking levels on TV. Unit is 2 months old and has done this from the beginning.

    Food Network HD display problems

Any ideas why some Food Network shows like Aces of Cakes and Iron Chef do not convert to the proper aspect ratio in HD? The HD commercials display full screen and correctly, but the shows themselves are compressed top and bottom in a way that cannot be manually adjusted without cropping the...

Terrible CSR situation after 15 years + with DTV

I don't say that I did the right thing. Yes, I did compare the bills to all my last bills. The prorated charges were not properly defined, even to wheret the CSRs didn't understand. Yes, I know there was going to be a penalty, but sorry, your 2 years pales to my 15. 2 years, the door should...

Terrible CSR situation after 15 years + with DTV

Thanks Stonecold. It was big mess I got myself into, but after 15 years, I was hoping for some goodwill from them - to keep the door open instead of slamming it in my face. I thought I did my due diligence, as I talked with various support staff a few times on this before cancelling.

Terrible CSR situation after 15 years + with DTV

Here's the followup. Turns out that what I thought were added fees were poorly indicated prorated ones. The bad part was that I had gone through several CSRs as well as email support who had never indicated this. I felt my only recourse was to cancel. The manager was as sympathetic as...

Terrible CSR situation after 15 years + with DTV

Posting this from the DTV tech forum site. Would really like all your inpout as to how to progress. I did my switch from SD to HD a month or so ago, and the CSR misrepresented the additional fees. I used to have 2 standard def Tivo units and my bill is now an additional $25 a month, when he...

Why are you leaving Dish Network Poll

Now see, I just came from DTV, and I also did the math. I'm saving about $25 a month after the discounts end and have more programming (I don't watch sports) My bill was $127 a month with standard def and two Tivo units that I owned. Upgraded to HD with one HD DVR (keeping my other Tivo) and my...

New to DISH, 722K confused by interface

Was a longtime DTV customer but just moved because of lower DISH prices. Have HD and am finding the interface extremely unintuitive and frustrating compared to DTV's. The big manual is the worst piece of technical writing ever, but the little cheat sheet is helpful. Questions: 1. Watch a...

    Thinking about Leaving Dish?

I just moved from DTV Their HD receiver fees are more. $5 lease per unit + $10 HD fee + $7.50 HD DVR fee (and what is that for?) per unit fee. Packages cost more. Saving $50 a month going to DISH. My only complaint with DISH is the awful 722 DVR interface.
