Totally agree with the no rhyme or reason lol. Occasionally I see on the TV Activity page where one tuner is updating the guide. This is while I'm watching a program, and most times, not all, while recording something at the same time. That tells me it doesn't need to be in any particular state...

From my experience I can't say yet. I'm thinking most of the time the overlays end when they should and I don't notice/think about it. They don't overrun often. Also I'm not certain enough to confirm it, but I think possibly if you rewind or otherwise disturb the playing of the overlay while...
