    Thank yeah

Well, after being told that my Dolby Digital sound would be fixed on my 811 in the "next patch" for the past year i've given up. The cable guy will be here tomorrow. I'd like to say thanks for keeping everyone up to date on the patches and giving us real information. Thanks, Odi

Did they ever fix the DD Optical audio

The header that the 811 is placing on the audio stream is bad. This isn't a compatiblity issue as much as it is a question of how your system does error checking/handling? some will not play, some will try to play without decode (chirp), and some may have errors (delays, volume problems, etc.)...

    811 on a regular TV

    1) Yes, it will work. 2) No, they shouldn't give you any trouble if you buy the 921. You won't be able to lease one, but no one else can either. If you have them set up the 921 as the primary receiver you won't have to pay an additional receiver fee on it or rental fee on one of the 811's...

    811 svideo/dvi/component problem

well that is a 4x3 TV... so I think you need to set the 811 to 4x3 in the HD setup and 1080i. lets make sure you've got that right first... then you'll have to tinker with the stretch modes... just toggle threw them with the star key or pgup pgdn keys on the 811 remote.. The tv should be set...

E* wants to take my 811 back after cancelling HD pak?!?!?

He had to agree to the terms of the lease when he confirmed shipment. They make you listen to a recording. Wether he chose to listen to the recording or not is another matter. He had to press 1 or whatever to agree to the terms. HD receivers are much more expensive and they consider part of the...

Any ideas why locals have terrible PQ?

should also note that the compression looks much worse on a HD set then on a normal tv because of the upconversion. Of course most HDtv's are large projection sets too, so that doesn't help either...

E* wants to take my 811 back after cancelling HD pak?!?!?

you never bought the receiver, you payed them the shipping cost, they charge you $5 a month lease for it, and they expect you to keep the HD pack as long as you have an HD receiver... there is no commitment. if you stop paying for the HD pak they want their HD reciever back. at that point...

    SoftWare Update: v.281

I can't think of a way to reset the thing completely that doesn't involve voiding the warranty as well :D... Gary, I would have it replaced. If it has done this twice to you, that just screams bad memory, and if that is the case, that 811 will always be borked one way or the other.

    SoftWare Update: v.281

LOL, campaigning for sKerry around here would get you chained to the back of a pickup truck and drug the length of I-40. (but enough about what I do for fun on the weekends :D ) yeah, now I get to naively wait for a week to get the update just to find that the DD still isn't fixed... if it...

How to get firmware version on 811?

make sure your on the sys info screen - menu - 6 - 1 - 3 on your remote. pretty sure that is where you are so.. beside where it says software version, that is your current firmware version. it doesn't just say 2.xx it will be something like 2xxxxx-N or something... but you should be...

    EDTV with 811

No, it's the people who sell plasma tv's that can only do 480p that should be shot. Happens that they are also the same people that like to sell Windows XP computers with 128mb of ram... yes these people must die :(

    EDTV with 811

Well, You are better off just using 480p. and the reason being is that if you set the 811 to 1080i when you watch anything in SD it will have to upconvert it to 1080i and your tv will have to downconvert it to 480p.. so when your watching SD with the 811 at 1080i you will have 2 resolution...

    Have HDTV need HD receiver

I imagine he has s-video since he is using a non HD receiver. When you get an 811 you may just wanna use the component cables that come with it. They are free. I used regular a/v cables as component cables for a few weeks and no one could tell the difference except me when I finally got...
