4K UHD PPV coming Nov 14th

I've seen this canard trotted about by naysayers of 4K, and frankly it gets annoying after a while... it's similar to those who poohpoohed HD when it first came out. I sit 10 feet from my 65" 4K tv, and on House of Cards or The Black List in 4K, there most definitely is a visible difference in...

4K UHD PPV coming Nov 14th

So I guess I'm SOL with my Sony 65X900B. *thppt* Only Netflix's limited 4K content for now... until Amazon Prime gets its 4K streaming content going. I'm getting flashbacks of buying HD-DVD the first weekend it came out in April of 2006. I think there were 4 titles available.

Single-TV user off contract; how to lower bill?

I've been off contract since January. I have one HD-DVR. That is the only receiver in the house. I subscribe to "Choice Extra Classic" (grandfathered), with no premium channels. Charges: Choice Xtra Classic: $71.99 HD Monthly: $10.00 DVR Monthly: $10.00 Primary TV: $6.00 Credits...

    Resetting played/unplayed status on DVR?

You've got a list of 170 episodes in a folder. Do YOU want to try and remember which ones have been watched and which ones have not? That's where the white versus grey text color is infinitely useful. If the series in question were available on Blu-Ray, I'd just go out and buy those, but it's...

    Resetting played/unplayed status on DVR?

I have a folder full of show episodes that I have watched. I want to go back and watch them again. How do I reset the status of each episode from played (dark grey) to unplayed (white)? Otherwise it will be a pain to keep track of where I am in the sequence. Thanks.

    DirecTV's Bait-and-Switch Billing B.S.

Apparently Illinois doesn't tax satellite TV service. It was the same way with Dish as well. Varies by state.

    DirecTV's Bait-and-Switch Billing B.S.

In this case it's a moot point. The "taxes" line item on all bills since service started is $0.00. Taxes do not factor into this.

    DirecTV's Bait-and-Switch Billing B.S.

    Absolutely sure.

    DirecTV's Bait-and-Switch Billing B.S.

I'm so furious I could spit. Just got off the phone with DirecTV's CS and I'm royally steamed. The convoluded way all the various credits and rebates are applied make it very difficult to arrive at REAL cost, so to a certain extent I relied on the information I was given on the phone when I...

Sorting Playlist... am I dain bramaged?

Because when I choose the menu option to sort alphabetically rather than in time order, it should actually obey the setting I have chosen rather than following it in the main folder and ignoring it everywhere else.

Sorting Playlist... am I dain bramaged?

That works for the main list. However, as I mentioned, the problem is with any series you have recorded, which are stored as subfolders with all episodes within that subfolder. The sort order of the episodes within the subfolder IGNORES the sort order setting chosen at the parent level. It...

Sorting Playlist... am I dain bramaged?

Yeah well if they were actually available on Blu-Ray I would. DVD doesn't cut it. Pardon me for actually assuming there would be a way to sort lists in both recorded and alphabetical order THE WAY THE MENU STATES IT DOES!

Sorting Playlist... am I dain bramaged?

NCIS reruns on USA are not broadcast in original episode order. Since the list will ONLY display in the order that the episodes were RECORDED, it means manually reconciling a list of (currently) 78 recorded episodes... which will only get more difficult as I record more episodes. The duplicated...

Sorting Playlist... am I dain bramaged?

This should be simple enough to do, but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to do it: I've been recording all repeat episodes of NCIS on USA NetworkHD in order to build up a library of episodes. I have the main list sorted alphabetically, but all the NCIS episodes show up as a...

    Newbie DVR question...

Frack. Then it looks like I'll have to manually keep track of the individual episodes and keep on it as the DVR gets full. *grumble*
