    Sirius Announces Super Bowl Plans!

Rules. There are already some rules in place to prevent teams from using certain technology during games, and this would fall in that category.

DVR HD Does it require a Phone Line?

Why do the HD DVR's require a phone line and some of the other receivers don't? Apparently with Dish you don't need a phone line at all, even for activation, so if I ever switched from cable I would probably lean to Dish just for that reason. I don't see why I should be forced to install and pay...

    Sirius Announces Super Bowl Plans!

No German broadcast! That's the only one I would have sampled since I know some German. A pretty impressive lineup nonetheless.

Blu-Ray and HD-DVD downconverts your output!!!

The flexibility is only because of there aren't portable players, not because there won't be, so it's not really a "restriction." I haven't seen any prices released, so while I do expect them to be a bit higher, I don't think they'll be that much higher. The price point is about as high as it...

    Motorola 6416 DVR available?

The last two digits determine the hard drive size, so the 6412 has a 120GB drive and the 6416 has a 160GB drive. I haven't heard of the 6416 being available anywhere yet though.

Welcome to the Awaited New High Definition "DVDs"

I think The Matrix trilogy, Lord of the Rings trilogy, and Harry Potter are impressive launch titles.

TOSHIBA INTRODUCES LINE-UP OF FIRST HD DVD PLAYERS for the U.S. MARKET

Doubtful on the xvid and divx, although it does say it will play CD's, including MP3 and WMA. "Didn't you always want to have your digital devices connect to your "Broadband Internet Network". Connect this baby through the rear Ethernet standard RJ45 modular jack or either of the two front...

    Analyst Declares Blu-Ray the Winner

I have noticed that DVD+R compatibility is conspicuous in its absence from all of Toshiba's specs. I'm hoping to be able to bring in one of my DVD+R's and test it out before possibly buying one of the units. I don't think this will make or break my decision, since I have a couple other players...

Samsung to launch dual-standard DVD player (maybe not!)

Not sure how reputable this is, but this was posted yesterday indicating that they're not going forward with the dual format player: http://www.engadget.com/2006/01/10/samsung-sez-combo-hd-dvd-blu-ray-player-is-a-no-go/

Welcome to the Awaited New High Definition "DVDs"

I think it will, not just becuse of the higher resolution, but because the studios will go to great lengths to make these first titles the absolute best HD they can do. The launch titles are some of the biggest movies of the past 10 years, and they will go out of their way to make them amazing...

    Comcast DVR Quality?

Yes, I believe they are enabled on the SA8300HD, at least in some areas.

BestBuy and ValueElectronics are taking pre-orders for Toshiba HD DVD!

No, at least not without a firmware "fix" - the Best Buy site clearly says "480p component video output" I hope you're right. It would be very bizarre if it couldn't play DVD+R disks.

BestBuy and ValueElectronics are taking pre-orders for Toshiba HD DVD!

I saw that buried in the specs, and I was wondering if it meant only HD-DVR-R or actual DVD-R. I didn't think any companies would ever release a player again that wouldn't play DVD+R (or DVD-R). Surely dual-format playback is cheap enough now. I'll wait until they're on the shelf and see if it...
