A question for you installers out there.

From what I've gathered from the OP, they moved it there due to LOS issues. For all we know it was on the overhang originally. It's hard to tell from the pics but what is a guy supposed to do if he rolls up on a service call like this and that's the only place it can go? As a contractor, I'm...

    Installers took old LNB

Surely you can see how your scenario differs greatly from the one that started this thread. Your situation was completely FUBAR( that was a crappy deal, sorry to hear it), and taking that eq interrupted the customers service. The installer mentioned in the original post was not doing anything...

    Installers took old LNB

We are scum. Every last one of us.(except skyviewmark, bozo button for you). If it's so important, get the damned lnb down before the guy gets there, because you know we're all just a bunch of friggin clepto's, and not nearly of the same quality as 'decent' folk. How can any of you rest at night...

    Installers took old LNB

It was a poorly worded response. Apologies. My statement was generally directed at anybody who thinks this is some sort of travesty or another scumbag installer nightmare. I know you just wanted to be informed, that's what this place is for. So now you know.

    Installers took old LNB

I don't think that's in the 'rule book'. Why would it be? If the customer doesn't mention it at the time, then the installer has no reason to assume they would need it. It's a very uncommon request. I'm sorry but this is stupid. I know it was just an innocent question by the OP, but anyone who...

    Installers took old LNB

No. They didn't do anything wrong. It's most likely leased equipment to begin with. And while I doubt they actually R/A the old piece of crap, they definitely didn't steal anything from you. If you want to tailgate you'll have to buy the equipment.

New Install Today - a few questions

I think you can buy compression type RCA ends and just use RG-6. It seems to me the degradation wouldn't be much of a factor. I've never done this since most people don't want to pay for it, so I could be wrong.

    Dish 1000 Wiring Question

Yep. The concensus is pretty clear on the DPP/34 thing. I guess I never really knew that because I've never tried it. DPP Twins serve only one purpose as far as I'm concerned. I agree using duals for 34 AND 44. Which brings me to ask, what is the point of the DPP Twin even being compatible with...

15 simple rules to make an install go smooth

You are right. It's not the customers fault. Not the installers fault either. This entire situation is FUBAR. I wonder what the early days of cable installation was like. What did the customers expect then? I rolled up on two installs today that had existing Direct TV dishes. Usually this would...

    722's come with cables!

When the 622's rolled out they were giving us HDMI and Components for awhile, then just RCA, then the added components again. I am a sub contractor and I don't exactly work for one of the more reputable companies, so it's possible they just won't spring for them. I can't speak for that end of it...

    722's come with cables!

HDMI cables are not standard with our HD boxes. And we haven't gotten the RG-59 jumpers in over a year. We do get the component cables. Btw, Old Corps: "installers" read these forums too.

    re-scheduling

You can try and get the CSR to put it in the notes that you would prefer it after 3 pm, but it's not going to be definite. The installer could show up anytime between 12 and 5(*ahem* give or take an hour in some cases). We're supposed to wait at least 30 minutes and try and contact you. If...
