Too late.... the CSR told me to reset the receiver and after I did that the shows were gone. So far it has not missed any recordings. I haven't changed a thing since this first happened except for doing a reset. Maybe doing reset after you attach an external drive makes it more stable?

My TV is 720p so I set native to ON and checked 720p only. This seems to stop the flickering.

I have an HR21-700. What is the purpose of the Native setting under HDTV? I find that when I set it to Off, changing channels is faster and there is much less flicker on the screen.

I was planning on running the line from one of the rooms that I'm removing a receiver from to the room with the R15/16 myself.

I am planning on returning 3 of the standard receivers and getting the R15/16 to replace them since none of the 3 TVs will ever be on at the same time. Would it be better to do this all through DirecTV and have them send me the new receiver and thusly I would send them back the old receivers...

I had my install last Saturday and I never asked for the protection plan when signing up or when the tech was here doing the install. When I look at my account online it shows that I have the PP at zero cost. Is it just free for the first month?

How do you go about getting the premier package free for 4 months? Can this be requested after your install is done?

Thanks for the replys. So far, all my recordings have gone off without a hitch (knock on wood). Yes, I probably should have used the box first before attaching the external drive. I don't believe that the problem was with the external drive as there were a few occassions where I would tune to...
